Catalan giants Barcelona are keenly monitoring the progress of Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke with an eye to replacing stalwart Xavi at the heart of their midfield. The Daily Express reports that while Barcelona coach Tata Martino is intent on bringing Koke to the Camp Nou, he has identified Chelsea’s Ramires as a contingency plan should he lose the battle to sign the 21 year old Spaniard. It is being reported that English Premier League big shots Manchester United and Liverpool along with the cash rich Manchester City are also keen on Koke.
Koke has vastly impressed Spanish National team coach Vicente Del Bosque and several Barcelona scouts with his showing this season but given the big money incentives in England, the Catalans fear losing out on him. Koke is also being dubbed as the ‘next Xavi’ in the making looking at his ability on the ball this season. Chelsea’s Ramires, who is known to have a great engine, seems to be on the radar of Martino along with Juventus’ highly impressive midfielder Arturo Vidal as a second option to bolster the Catalans’ midfield.
