West Ham target Fabregas as Payet replacement

West Ham are believed to have made a late attempt to land Chelsea playmaker Cesc Fabregas as a replacement for Dmitri Payet, who ended his month long dispute with the Hammers to re-join former club Olympic Marseille.

Fabregas, a former star at Arsenal and Barcelona, has spent the better part of this season warming the bench at Chelsea after failing to regularly feature in Manager Antonio Conte's first choice eleven.

Dutch football giants Ajax have made a bid to sign Brazil under-20 midfielder David Neres, according to media reports.

The Eredivisie club made a formal bid of approximately $16 million for the 19-year-old Sao Paulo player on Monday, according to ESPN Brasil.

Former Chile international striker Gustavo Canales could leave Brazilian outfit Botafogo as he seeks to kickstart his stalled football career.

Canales has scored just one goal from 11 appearances since joining the Rio de Janeiro outfit from Universidad de Chile in May last year. His 2016 season was cut short by an ankle injury which required surgery in October and the 34-year-old is yet to fully recover, according to the Lance news outlet.

Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that he had no issues keeping Carl Jenkinson at the club should the defender's move to Crystal Palace fail to materialize in the January transfer window.

Predictably quizzed about Jenkinson's future at his press conference yesterday, Wenger confirmed that Palace's request to sign Jenkinson was indeed a permanent transfer and not a loan move, but added that he didn't have any issues keeping the young right back should the move fail to materialize.

Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger has reacted to rumours about the Gunners' interest in Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

Addressing talk that Arsenal were plotting a move for the French striker, Wenger said in his press conference today, "Offensively we have a very strong squad... Maybe there are some noises that he would leave Madrid, but as I just told you, there is no need for us to buy any strikers."
