Barcelona return beckons for Gerard Deulofeu

FC Barcelona confirmed they have taken up their option to evoke the 12 million euro ($13.71 million) buyback clause on winger Gerard Deulofeu.

The 23-year-old winger, who is currently with the Spain Under-21 squad playing in the European Championships in Poland, broke records while in the Barcelona youth system and scored 18 goals with the club's B-team in the 2012-13 season. However, he was unable to establish himself in the first team squad and after loan spells with Everton and Sevilla he was eventually sold to Everton in 2015 after former Barca coach, Luis Enrique decided he didn't want him.

Lille set to sign Brazilian midfielder Mendes

France's Lille have agreed to a nine million euro ($10.2 million) deal for Sao Paulo midfielder Thiago Mendes, the Brazilian club confirmed. The announcement on Friday follows weeks of negotiations after new Lille coach Marcelo Bielsa identified the 25-year-old as a priority transfer target.

"The contract hasn't been signed but we have reached an agreement by email and telephone," Sao Paulo football director Vinicius Pinotti was quoted as saying by the Folha de S.Paulo newspaper.

Man United target inks new long term deal with Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has extended his contract with the Spanish top division football club till 2026. Niguez's amazing long term deals spells disappointment for Manchester United, who were eyeing a summer move for the fantastic young Spaniard

The 22-year-old midfielder extended his contract for five more seasons and will be able to complete 14 seasons in the first team, if he remains until the end of his commitment, since he debuted in 2012, according to a club statement released on Saturday. His original contract was supposed to end in 2021.

Niguez played in the European Under-21 Championship with Spain, which lost the final on Friday to Germany 1-0, and the midfielder was the top scorer of the tournament with five goals.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos has extended his contract for three seasons, the French football club announced on Saturday.

The renewal of the 23-year-old Brazilian's contract came after the contract extension of Uruguayan Edinson Cavani and Brazilian Thiago Silva, until 2020, and Frenchman Presnel Kimpembe, until 2021.

Schalke sign Deportivo defender Pablo Insua

Schalke 04 completed the transfer of defender Pablo Insua from Spanish outfit Deportivo La Coruna, both clubs announced. Schalke reinforced their defence with the signing of centre-back Pablo Insua on Thursday, who penned a four-year deal to stay with the "Knappen" until June 2021.

"Pablo Insua is a tactically well-trained player. He can move the ball quickly and has a good anticipation. In addition, he is a clean tackler," Schalke's head coach Domenico Tedesco said.

Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis heads to Galatasaray

After spending a stellar season on loan at Ligue 1 football side Marseille, French forward Bafetimbi Gomis signed a three-year deal with Turkish outfit Galatasaray.

The 31-year-old Gomis has fared below par since joining English Premier League side Swansea City in 2014 following a five-year stint in Lyon. He did however recoard a career-best haul of 20 league goals in the 2016-17 season.

Chelsea make shock decision to sell rising star

In what is a club-record transfer, English Premier League (EPL) side AFC Bournemouth has roped in young defender Nathan Ake from Chelsea.

"I had a great time here last season so I'm really happy to be back," Ake told the club's official website.
