Pablo Zabaleta considering joining a Premier League rival

After an emotional final game for Manchester City, Argentine defender Pablo Zabaleta said he is considering whether to join another English Premier League club or not. Zabaleta came on to a standing ovation in the 62nd minute against West Brom on Tuesday.

"I would not be the first to leave a club after so many years and come back in a different shirt," he was quoted as saying by BBC on Wednesday.

Man City confirm Zabaleta departure

Manchester City have announced that veteran right-back Pablo Zabaleta will leave the English football giants at the end of his contract this summer, ending a nine-year association with the club.

"The 58-times capped Argentina international has informed the club he will move to pastures new, but leave behind many happy memories," City said in a statement on Saturday.

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has insisted that it will be important to keep key footballers of his English Premier League (EPL)-winning squad as he seeks further improvement next season, especially with an eye to the Champions League.

Fabian Johnson extends contract with Borussia Monchengladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach confirmed US international Fabian Johnson has agreed on a contract extension for two years, which will keep him with the Bundesliga football club until June 2020.

Johnson's contract was due to expire in 2018 but the midfielder put pen to paper on a two-year extension on Thursday.

Roman Weidenfeller extends his stay with Borussia Dortmund

Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund said veteran goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller has agreed to a one-year contract extension, which will keep him with the football club until June 2018.

"Roman has been an integral part of the BVB family for more than a decade. We are very happy that he wants to stand another year between Dortmund's posts." Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc said on Tuesday.

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has said he might not leave the capital football club for China at the end of the season. But Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian are confident of landing the Spain striker this summer, although they say no talks have yet taken place, according to a report in Sky Sports.

Chelsea head Antonio Conte has repeatedly said he cannot guarantee Costa will stay, but in the meantime the Italian has continued to pick his top scorer on the English Premier League run-in.

Spanish left-back to choose Real Madrid over Man United and Liverpool

Defender Theo Hernandez, currently on loan at Alaves from Atletico Madrid, passed a medical with record European football champions Real Madrid, according to Spanish media reports on Monday. The 19-year-old left-back passed the checkup successfully without any problems.

According to reports, the Marseille-born defender will move to Real Madrid this summer. He has a 24 million euros ($26.2 million) clause which Real Madrid are set to pay to Atletico at the end of the season, making him the first signing of the 2017-18 season.
