Record prize fund of €4.75million announced for the 2013 BMW PGA Championship

A record prize fund of €4.75million, an increase of €250,000 on last year, will be at stake for The European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship 2013, at Wentworth Club, Surrey, England, from May 23-26.

This year’s champion will receive €791,660, which is over €40,000 more than England’s Luke Donald collected for his second consecutive BMW PGA Championship success in 2012 when he finished four strokes clear of joint runners-up Paul Lawrie of Scotland and Donald’s compatriot, Justin Rose.

Vodafone - McLaren partnership to conclude this season

Vodafone and McLaren have today confirmed that their very successful seven-year title partnership will conclude at the end of the 2013 season.

Since 2007, Vodafone and McLaren have formed one of the most successful partnerships in the history of motorsport. In the past six years, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes has scored 34 Grand Prix victories, won the 2008 Drivers’ World Championship and last season won seven races – no other team won more.

Young scientists challenged by McLaren and GSK to help drive science behind Formula 1

GSK has today announced a new programme for its ‘Scientists in Sport’ education initiative in partnership with the McLaren Group.  It uses the excitement of the science behind Formula 1TM to encourage an interest in science subjects at school.

The new Scientists in Sport campaign will be officially unveiled at the Big Bang Fair – the national science fair, which runs from the 14th – 17th March and will be attended by around 60,000 secondary school students and their teachers.

Ralph Waters announced as new ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Chairman

Cricket Australia and New Zealand Cricket, the hosts of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, today announced the appointment of Mr Ralph Waters as Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the tournament.

Mr Waters, who was previously Deputy Chairman, was appointed following the sad loss of the inaugural Chairman, Mr James Strong AO, who passed away last week.

During the Geneva Motor Show, Jean-Christophe Babin, TAG Heuer’s President & CEO, and Ron Dennis, Executive Chairman of the McLaren Group, announced a new exclusive partnership agreement.

TAG Heuer will continue to supply the official timepiece for the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 team and the partnership will be extended to include McLaren Automotive, the manufacturer of world leading high performance sports cars including the 12C and McLaren P1™.
