Australia takes silver medal at Singapore Sevens

The Australian Men's Sevens side have finished in second at the HSBC Singapore Sevens after falling at the death in the Cup Final to Fiji 22-28.

Australia took the lead with seconds to spare with a try to John Porch in the corner, but Fiji was able to find another gear, out pacing the Aussie 7s defence to score in the corner and steal a gold medal from the men in gold.

Flora Duffy becomes hometown hero and Norway sweeps the men's podium in Bermuda

The second round and first Olympic-distance race of the 2018 ITU World Triathlon Series was an eventful one as Norway swept the men's podium with Casper Stornes collecting his first WTS win of his career at the 2018 MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda debut event. Flora Duffy then became a hometown hero in front of thousands of cheering fans as she dominated a historical victory in her own nation.

Flora Duffy (BER) could not have asked for a better race scenario as a sheer dominating performance captured her the 2018 MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda crown in front of thousands of cheering fans. The gold earned on home soil was her first WTS win of the season and first for the inaugural event as she won with a marginal victory of 96 seconds in the first Olympic-distance race of the season.

SuperSport Rugby Challenge Round 2 Review: Hat-tricks galore

Tafel Lager Griquas, DHL Western Province and iCOLLEGE Pumas impressed with their second victories in as many weeks as the SuperSport Rugby Challenge picked up momentum, while the SWD Eagles, Toyota Free State XV and Vodacom Blue Bulls scored their first wins on Saturday in the second round of the competition, with five players recording try hat-tricks.

The men from the Northern Cape, in particular, were in devastating form in dismantling the Leopards 80-14 in Kimberley to make an early stand on top of the Central Section log. Tafel Lager Griquas wing Enver Brandt scored his second hat-trick of the competition and leads the try-scoring stats with six tries. Brandt was not the only player who scored three tries for his side though, flanker Sias Koen did the same.

Blitzboks relinquish World Series lead in Singapore

It was a costly weekend for the Springbok Sevens as they lost stand-in skipper Kyle Brown for the season with a knee injury, and dropped to second place behind Fiji in the 2017/18 World Rugby Sevens Series standings after finishing fourth in Singapore.

The Blitzboks started the bronze final with only 10 fit players and were beaten 26-24 by England on Sunday. Earlier, the South Africans were edged 12-10 by Fiji in the semi-finals of the tournament, the eighth of the ten in the series.

Australia edge Scotland, New Zealand and Wales to top Pool D

The Australian Men's Sevens side have completed a clean sweep on day one of the Singapore Sevens accounting for New Zealand, Scotland and Wales to top Pool D and set up a Cup Quarter Final clash with Spain at the HSBC Singapore Sevens tomorrow.

In Tim Walsh’s first tournament as Head Coach, the Aussie7s got off to the perfect start against Scotland, coming from behind in the final two minutes to register a 24-20 win.  Maurice Longbottom scored what proved to be the match winner in the dying seconds of the match.
