South African sides suffer back-to-back tour defeats in Guinness PRO14

The Toyota Cheetahs and Isuzu Southern Kings went down for the second week in a row on their Guinness PRO14 tours with the South African teams suffering defeats against the Scarlets in Wales and Leinster in Ireland respectively.

The Scarlets delivered an effective display against the Toyota Cheetahs in Llanelli on Sunday for a 43-21 victory, while Conference B log-leaders and competition pace-setters, Leinster, outplayed the Isuzu Southern Kings 59-19 in Dublin on Friday.


Experienced trio back for Boks’ Paris Test

The experienced trio of Willie le Roux, Faf de Klerk and Franco Mostert are back in the Springbok starting team for Saturday’s Test against France at the Stade de France in Paris.

The match in the French capital is South Africa’s second fixture of the 2018 Castle Lager Outgoing Tour to the United Kingdom and France and kicks off at 22h05 (SA time).


Uber shows its support for Women's T20 cricket

The International Cricket Council (ICC) and Uber today announced a world first partnership to support the first ever standalone ICC Women’s World T20 in the West Indies. Working in partnership, the ICC and Uber aim to leverage one of the world’s most popular sports to engage the broader cricketing community in a conversation around the important role sport plays in empowering girls and women around the world.

This global partnership will encompass on-the-ground activation in participating WWT20 countries, in addition to the creation of a six-part digital film series featuring the inspiring stories of female cricketers, watch party and match day promotions across Uber and Uber Eats in participating countries.


Erasmus bemoans wasted opportunities at Twickenham

The Springboks’ failure to finish off their opportunities and some ill-discipline, which resulted in crucial penalties for England, cost them the match at Twickenham on Saturday, according to Rassie Erasmus, the SA Rugby Director of Rugby.

England edged South Africa 12-11 in a tightly fought battle played before a capacity crowd in London. The home side’s flyhalf and co-captain, Owen Farrell, deliverd a flawless goal kicking display and slotted three penalties, while Elliot Daly (fullback) was on target with a long-range penalty.


Gafur Rahimov elected as AIBA President

AIBA is pleased to announce that Gafur Rahimov has been elected as the new President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) following elections held at the 2018 AIBA Congress in Moscow.

After providing the AIBA voting delegates with a compassioned speech, which addressed AIBA’s organizational and Olympic future, the voting members chose Gafur Rahimov by a convincing majority. Mr. Rahimov received 86 votes, over the opponent for the position, Serik Konakbayev.
