Dell signs on as Team Lotus Technology Partner

On the eve of its home grand prix in Malaysia, Team Lotus announced that Dell has upgraded its commitment to become a Technology Partner. Dell’s world famous brand will make its debut on the T128 at the 2011 UBS Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai. Dell’s additional investment also gives Team Lotus access to a new level of technological solutions which will provide the team with the power to do more, faster .

Scott Stevenson to serve as interim CEO at Commonwealth Games Canada

Commonwealth Games Canada Director of Sport, Scott Stevenson, has been appointed interim Chief Executive Officer until a replacement can be found for the outgoing CEO, Thomas Jones. In January, Jones announced his intention to step down from the CEO position at the end of March in order to pursue career opportunities in his home province of British Columbia.

During six years at the helm, Jones led the organization through two Commonwealth Games (Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010), one Commonwealth Youth Games (Pune 2008), the Canadian bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, the renewal of the Commonwealth Games of Canada Foundation, and a period of significant growth for CGC’s innovative International Development through Sport (IDS) program.

Kingfisher to sponsor Umpires at IPL Season 4

Kingfisher Airlines Limited will again be the Official Umpire Partner for the upcoming DLF Indian Premier League (IPL) 2011 season.

In making this announcement, the DLF IPL – now in its fourth year – unveiled a line-up of some of cricket’s most respected match referees and umpires, who will officiate seven weeks of matches, starting next Friday (April 8). Among those who will be on duty during the compelling action ‘in the middle’ are Asad Rauf, Rudi Koertzen, Simon Taufel, Billy Doctrove and Aleem Dar while others such as Roshan Mahanama, Javagal Srinath and Andy Pycroft will be match referees. There is also a full slate of fourth umpires.

India to host first ever Super Series Badminton Championship in April

indian_openIndia will host its first ever Super Series badminton championship from 26th April to 1st May this year at Delhi’s Siri Fort Indoor complex – a venue that showcased Badminton during the Commonwealth Games 2010 in October last year. The Super Series event features the world’s top 32 players in men’s and women’s singles and doubles. Nearly 220 players from 16 countries will be participating over the 6 days competition. India has been given the right to host Super Series from 2011 to 2013.

The Super Series is a series of elite tournaments with a high standard of organisation and presentation, they are akin to Master Series events in tennis where players earn more BWF ranking points depending on their final classification.
