Vodacom Cup Round 6 Review: No unbeaten teams left

With a week of league action left, no team will go into the Vodacom Cup playoffs unbeaten after the Sharks XV and the Steval Pumas’ impressive winning runs came to an end over the weekend.

Five teams have booked their places in the quarter-finals – the Steval Pumas and Vodacom Blue Bulls in the North Section, and the Sharks XV, defending champions DHL Western Province and ICBC Pampas XV in the South Section.

Drew Mitchell opts not to re-sign with Australian Rugby, heading overseas

Australian Rugby Union today confirmed Qantas Wallabies winger, Drew Mitchell, will depart Australia at season’s end after he decided not to re-sign with Australian Rugby.

The 63-Test veteran, who will be keen to add to his tally of Test caps in the highly anticipated Lions Tour in June and July and The Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship later in the year, will depart Australia following the conclusion of the Australian Test season.

Luke Burgess returning to Australia, joins Melbourne Rebels

Former Qantas Wallabies halfback Luke Burgess is returning to Australia. He has signed a two-year deal with the Australian Rugby Union, which will take him through to the completion of the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Burgess has also signed for the Melbourne Rebels in Super Rugby.

The 29-year-old, who has been capped on 37 occasions since his debut in 2008, will arrive back in the country at the conclusion of the Top 14 competition in France.

Vodacom Cup Round 5 Review: New first-class record for Steval Pumas

The Steval Pumas set a new record for the biggest victory ever in first class rugby in South Africa when they beat the Assupol Limpopo Blue Bulls by 154-0 in a Vodacom Cup massacre at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday.

It was a weekend of big scores, with one century of points and three 50s in the eight encounters as the top teams start their push for the playoffs.

Super Rugby Round 9 Review: Good wins for Kings, Vodacom Bulls and DHL Stormers

The Southern Kings won their first-ever match Down Under as the DHL Stormers and Vodacom Bulls returned to winning ways on an exciting Saturday of Vodacom Super Rugby action.

The Kings ended their Australasian tour in superb fashion, clinching a win in injury time against the Rebels in Melbourne (30-27). It meant the South African dominance over Australia’s newest franchise was extended to 11 matches.
