Williams Appoints Paddy Lowe as Chief Technical Officer

Williams Grand Prix Holdings PLC (Ticker: WGF1) is pleased to announce the appointment of Paddy Lowe as Chief Technical Officer for the Williams Group.

Paddy will join Williams today, 16 March, and will take overall management responsibility for the engineering operation at Grove. Paddy will also join the company’s Board of Directors and take a shareholding in the company, underlining his passion and commitment to working with Claire Williams and Mike O’Driscoll to drive the Williams Group forward.

Ali, Mustafa clinch Himalayan Drive 5 title

Unlike the serpentine mountain roads the rallyists traversed during the course of the five-day Biswa Bangla JK Tyre Himalayan Drive 5, the results had few twists and turns as favourites Ajgar Ali and Mohammed Mustafa won the title here on Thursday.

The reigning national Time Speed Distance (TSD) champions led from the first day and were on top on all three days barring the final day where they finished second to score over others as the marathon rally ended at Club Montana Vista next to Siliguri's City Centre.

The fourth edition of the Tata Motors T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship will be held on March 19 at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in Greater Noida, it was announced on Monday.

Conducted under the aegis of FIA & FMSCI, the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship will feature Tata Prima trucks, built for the purpose.

Toto Wolff and Niki Lauda renew contracts with Mercedes till 2020

Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport announced today that Toto Wolff and Niki Lauda have signed new contracts which will keep them with the World Champion team until the end of 2020. This date aligns with the expiration of the current Commercial Agreement with Formula One Management.

Niki Lauda began working with Mercedes in late 2012. Since 2013, he has held the role of Non-Executive Chairman of the board of Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix Ltd and holds a 10% stake in the Team.

Williams retain Paul di Resta as Reserve Driver for 2017

Williams announced today that Paul Di Resta will remain as its official Reserve Driver for the 2017 FIA Formula One World Championship season.

Paul made his Formula One debut in 2009 as a test driver with the Force India Formula One Team, after winning the European Formula 3 Championship in 2006. Paul went on to secure the DTM title in 2010 before making his Formula One debut in 2011 with Force India where he spent three seasons with the team, scoring a total of 121 points.

James Allison to join Mercedes as Technical Director

Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport announced today that James Allison will join the team from 1 March 2017. James is a highly distinguished Formula 1 engineer who has won world championships with both Ferrari and Renault, in addition to holding senior leadership roles in both teams. He will join Mercedes in the newly created role of Technical Director and will lead the Technical organisation.

James Allison will report directly to Toto Wolff, who will have overall responsibility for running the team.
