Vani Kapoor gunning for two in a row on Hero Women's Professional Golf Tour

Having won her first title in her first appearance in the last event, Vani Kapoor will look to adding another title to her tally in the fifth leg of the Hero Women's Professional Golf Tour being played at the Classic Golf and Country Club here from Wednesday

Delhi's Vani, who showed a glimpse of her immense talent in the previous event, will start as firm favourite in the fifth leg.

Vani Kapoor wins first title of 2017 at Tollygunge Club

Vani Kapoor carded an even par round on the final day to win the 4th leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2017 at the Tollygunge Club on Thursday. Vani claimed her first title of the season with a margin of four strokes. Amandeep Drall finished second with a total score of 217. The INR 7,00,000 event culminated today.

New Delhi’s Vani Kapoor had an indifferent start, dropping a shot on the very first hole. She went on to card a birdie on the 7th hole with a double bogey on the 8th in her front nine. Sensing victory on her way in, she played with much more control and carded a bogey free round with birdies on the 10th and 16th holes. Panchkula’s Amandeep Drall had a shaky start, carding bogeys on the 1st and 5th holes, but birdies on the 8th and 9th helped her to neutralise the damage on her way out. Her lone birdie in the back nine came on the 15th hole, while she dropped shots on the 10th, 11th, 13th, 17th and 18th to finish the round with a score of four over 74.

Sharmila Nicollet makes a stunning comeback at Tollygunge Club

Sharmila Nicollet carded the only sub par round of three under 67 to grab the lead on the second day of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour at the Tollygunge Club here on Wednesday. Trailing her by a margin of one shot are Amandeep Drall and Vani Kapoor with identical scores of 143. The INR 7,00,000 event will culminate tomorrow.

Nicollet made an impressive comeback from eighth position to take the lead after the second round. She started with aplomb, carding a bogey free front nine, with birdies on the 2nd, 3rd and 7th holes. In her back nine, she carded a birdie and a bogey apiece on the 13th and 16th holes respectively, to put herself in a strong position to win her first event of the current season.

Saaniya Sharma sets early pace at Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2017

Saaniya Sharma carded one under 69 to grab the lead in the first round of the fourth leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2017. Trailing her in second position with an even par score is the youngster from New Delhi, Vani Kapoor. The INR 7,00,000 event will culminate on 23rd February.

Chandigarh’s Saaniya Sharma had an indifferent start, carding a bogey on the very first hole, but was able to neutralise the damage by carding birdies on the 2nd and 6th holes in her front nine. On her way in, she carded a double bogey on the 12th hole. However, she controlled the damage by carding birdies on the 13th and 14th holes. Vani Kapoor’s even par round included a bogey and a birdie a piece in her front nine on the 1st and 7th holes, while following a smilier script in her back nine by carding a birdie on the 13th hole followed by a bogey on the 14th.

Excitement mounts at Tollygunge ahead of 4th Leg of Hero Women's Professional Golf Tour

With one win each for Neha Tripathi, Amandeep Drall and Gaurika Bishnoi in the first three legs, and the return of Vani Kapoor from her overseas commitments, the fourth Leg of the Hero Women's Professional Golf Tour at the Tollygunge Club promises to be an exciting contest that will begin from Tuesday.

Gaurika is currently leading the Hero Order of Merit with total earnings of Rs 300,000. Having won the previous leg, Gaurika will look to add another win to her tally and consolidate her position atop the money list.

Gaurika Bishnoi clinches maiden title in Kolkata

Gaurika Bishnoi carded one under 71 on the final day to clinch her maiden title in the 3rd leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club here on Friday. Finishing in second position was Saaniya Sharma with a total score of 222. The INR 6,00,000 event culminated today.

Gurgaon’s Gaurika Bishnoi had a steady start, carding birdies on the 4th and 9th holes while dropping a shot on the 5th in her front nine. Sensing victory, she played with caution in the latter half, carding a birdie and a bogey apiece on the 14th and 17th holes  to emerge victorious and claim her maiden title since turning professional, with a total score of 218 after 54 holes.

Trisha Sunil takes charge on Day 2 in Kolkata

Trisha Sunil carded the only sub par round of three under 69 to grab the lead on the second day of the 3rd leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour at The Royal Calcutta Golf Club here on Thursday. Trailing her by two shots is  Gurgaon’s Gaurika Bishnoi, placed second with a total of 147. The INR 6,00,000 event will culminate tomorrow.

Bengaluru’s Trisha Sunil had a shaky start, carding a bogey on the 2nd hole, but a birdie on the 4th helped her finish with an even par front nine. In her back nine, she dropped a shot on the 10th but quickly regained her composure and fired four birdies on the 12th, 14th, 16th and 17th to finish the second round with a total score of 145.

Neha Tripathi eyes second title in Kolkata

Having won her first title in the first leg, Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi will start as a firm favourite in the third leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2017 at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, Kolkata. The INR 6,00,000 event featuring 14 professionals will commence on 15th February.

Neha Tripathi is currently placed second in the Hero Order of Merit with total earnings of INR 2,10,000. She has one win in two appearances and a win here will help her overtake Amandeep Drall and secure her position atop the money list. Another strong contender for the title is Smriti Mehra. She has been close to winning in the last two events and will be keen to register her first win here. She is currently placed third in the Hero Order of Merit with total earnings of INR 2,04,000.

Cold putter leaves Anirban Lahiri 9th at Maybank Championship

Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri was tied ninth after scoring a three-under 69, while Shubhankar Sharma dropped six places to be 11th after posting a 71 after the third round of the Maybank Championship here on Saturday.

Lahiri carded five birdies against two bogeys for a 69 that took his 54-hole total to 10-under 206 -- same as Paraguayan Fabrizio Zanotti, who came up with a brilliant 67 at the Saujana Golf and Country Club.

Shiv Kapur ready to bounce back after liver surgery

Indian golfer Shiv Kapur is hopeful of making 2017 a successful year as he feels being back to his best shape after undergoing a liver surgery last year. The 34-year-old made his comeback in the middle of December after a nearly three-month injury-induced lay-off. He has played a few tournaments with mixed results.

"I had an abscess at my liver. It went undiagnosed and instead I was treated for viral infection in Europe. And when I came to India, it was diagnosed properly. It took a lot of time to heel," Shiv on Wednesday said, on the sidelines of the launch of 2017 Hero Indian Open.
