Thiem in Djokovic's quarter in exciting French Open draw

Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic and Spanish starlet Garbine Muguruza will begin the defence of their French Open titles against Spaniard Marcel Granollers and Italy's Francesca Schiavone, respectively, according to the draw held on Friday.

If Djokovic reaches the last 16, the world No.2, may face Frenchman Lucas Pouille and in the quarterfinals Austrian Dominic Thiem.

Roger Federer decides to skip French Open

The 18-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer has announced his absence from the French Open later this month, and has turned his attention to the grass and hard court tennis seasons.

"Regrettably, I've decided not to participate in the French Open," said the Swiss tennis superstar in a statement on his Twitter page on Monday.

Maria Sharapova could get wild card for 2017 French Open

French Open organisers don't rule out handing Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova a wild card to participate in the Grand Slam event next year.

"The list of wild cards is decided 15 days before the tournament; we have time to think about it," the tournament's press service said on Wednesday.

Sharapova has been serving a two-year suspension for the violation of anti-doping regulations since January 26. However, the Swiss-based Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled on Tuesday to reduce Sharapova's suspension term from 24 to 15 months.

Djokovic fourth time lucky at Roland Garros

Djokovic WinsIt has been a while coming, but world no.1 Novak Djokovic has finally completed his long awaited career Grand Slam, adding the only trophy missing from his overflowing cabinet, beating Andy Murray in four sets in a lopsided final at Roland Garros this afternoon.

Having been beaten three times previously in the Final at Paris in the last four years, Djokovic finally picked up his maiden French Open title an outcome which also makes him the first man since Rod Laver to hold all four majors at the same time.

Djokovic - Murray set for French Open Final showdown

It is the dream final that virtually no tennis fan really wanted with world no.1 Novak Djokovic squaring off against second seed Andy Murray in Sunday's French Open Final, the 34th meeting between the pair and for a fifth straight time in a final.

Both Djokovic and Murray are chasing their maiden French Open title, the Serb having lost in the final here now three times in the last four years, while Murray is playing on the third Sunday at Roland Garros for the first time in his career.

Hingis and Paes beat Mirza and Dodig in Thrilling French Open Final

On a day when Serena Williams, Andy Murray and Stanislas Wawrinka graced the famed Philippe-Chatrier Court at Roland Garros, it was the last match of the day, the Mixed Doubles Final that provided all the real thrills and entertainment as the legendary doubles pairing of Leander Paes and Martina Hingis nudged the second seeded pairing of Sania Mirza and Ivan Dodig 4-6, 6-4, [10-8] in an incredible final.

Defending champion Mirza, teaming up with Croatian powerhouse Ivan Dodig landed the first blow right at the end of a tight opening set which had witnessed 9 consecutive games on serve without even a single breakpoint having been fashioned by either team. Leander Paes, serving to stay in the first set was broken in the 10th game as the Indo-Croatian pair took the lead.
