Pliskova, Svitolina advance to 4th round of French Open

Czech second seed Karolina Pliskova and Ukrainian fifth seed Elina Svitolina advanced to the women's singles fourth round of the French Open tennis championships , after defeating Germany's Carina Witthoeft and Poland's Magda Linette, respectively, on Sunday.

World No.3 Pliskova joins this round in Paris for the first time after winning 7-5, 6-1 over Witthoeft in an hour and 28 minutes, in the match that could not be played Saturday because of the rain.


Andy Murray leads seeds into fourth round of the French Open

World No.1 Sir Andy Murray of Britain and Croatian seventh seed Marin Cilic defeated Argentine Juan Martin del Potro and Feliciano Lopez respectively to advance to the men's singles fourth round of the French Open tennis championships after here on Saturday.

Meanwhile, in the women's singles, Romania's third-seeded Simona Halep advanced to the fourth round, where she will compete with Spanish Carla Suarez for a place in the quarter-finals.


Garbine Muguruza advances to last 16 of the French Open

Garbine Muguruza clinched a last 16 berth with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Yulia Putintseva, while men's tenth-seed David Goffin retired due to an ankle injury when leading 5-4 in the first set in the third round of French Open tennis tournament on Friday.

The fourth-seeded and the reigning champion outscored Putintseva 26-14 in winners, and reached the 73 per cent in winning on first serve, 24 percent higher than Putintseva.


French Open: Bopanna - Cuevas advance, Paes beaten in Doubles and Mixed

Indian star Rohan Bopanna and his Uruguayan partner Pablo Cuevas survived a tough three-set battle to enter the third round of the men's doubles competition at the French Open tennis tournament here on Friday.

The ninth seeds were made to sweat by the unseeded duo of Dennis Istomin of Uzbekistan and Treat Huey of the Philippines before notching up a 5-7, 7-6, 6-4 victory following a gruelling encounter that stretched over two hours and 14 minutes.


Djokovic, Nadal record identical wins to move into French Open third round

Defending champion Novak Djokovic has defeated Joao Sousa of Portugal in straight sets to enter the third round of the French Open tennis tournament. The second seeded Serbian defeated Sousa 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 in 2 hours and 7 minutes here on Wednesday evening.

"Generally I feel better than the first round, so that's exactly what I wanted," the world No. 2 said after the match.


French Open: Muguruza, Svitolina and Radwanska advance to the third round

Fourth seed GarbiƱe Muguruza of Spain reached the third round of the French Open tennis tournament after beating Estonian Anett Kontaveit in a hard-fought match. After conceding the first set, the defending champion defeated the World No.53 on Wednesday evening 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-2 in two hours and eight minutes.

Following the match, the Spaniard said that although she had lost against the Estonian recently but in this tournament she feels better and is playing to win, referring to her loss against Kontaveit in the Stuttgart Open round of 16.


Thiem, Goffin advance to the third round of the French Open

Austria's Dominic Thiem, sixth seed, and Belgium's David Goffin on Wednesday advanced to the third round at the French Open.

The Austrian beat Italian Simone Bolelli 7-5, 6-1, 6-3 in two hours and 23 minutes, while Goffin struggled in a 6-2, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win over Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky.
