Williams record double points finish at United States Grand Prix

It was another double points finish for the Williams F1 Team with Pastor Maldonado finishing ninth and Bruno Senna tenth, collecting three points in total in the United States Grand Prix.

After dropping back to 15th in the early stages, Pastor pushed hard on a one-stop strategy to make his way back through the field and catch Bruno to take P9. Bruno drove well fighting his way up to eighth before his only pitstop of the race, but on rejoining was held up behind Hulkenberg who defended well to keep Bruno behind allowing Pastor to catch them both. Maldonado did well to hustle the Force India man, but Hulkenberg had just enough pace in his Mercedes powered engine to make him very hard to overtake down the straights.

Hamilton romps to victory in US GP; Vettel and Alonso complete the podium as Drivers' title fight goes down to the wire in Brazil

hamilton1Lewis Hamilton drove one of the best races of his Formula One career as the British ace halted the rampaging Red Bull of Sebastian Vettel to take a dazzling victory at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. Sebastian Vettel finished the race in 2nd place, with the German still in the driver's seat to be crowned the Youngest ever Triple Champion in Formula One history as he heads into the season ending finale in Brazil with a 13 point advantage over title rival Fernando Alonso.

Alonso was cool as a cucumber under immense pressure of starting from a lowly 7th place on the grid, but the Spaniard hustled his Ferrari to finish in 3rd place on the final step on the podium. The Spanish Matador lives to fight another day as his titanic battle with Vettel for the driver's title would come to an epic conclusion in Brazil. Felipe Massa having started from 11th place on the grid finished the race in an excellent 4th place to make it a Ferrari 3-4. Jenson Button, in one of the drives of the day, brought home valuable points to the McLaren team in 5th place.

USGP: Vettel beats Hamilton to Austin pole, Alonso to start Eighth

Sebastian Vettel notched up his 6th pole position of the season in qualifying for the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas this afternoon. The reigning double world champion seemed to be headed for a comfortable pole throughout the session until the final minutes of Q3 where Lewis Hamilton's McLaren got closest to challenging the Red Bull at the top. The Briton ended up a tenth down and will join the young German on the front row of the grid.

Australian superstar Mark Webber begins the race on the second the row in P3, on the favoured clean side of the grid on the racing line at the new track and will fancy his chances of getting the jump on Hamilton at the start.

Formula Renault 3.5 series Champion Robin Frijns spends final day of Young Driver Test in RB8

The final day of the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi saw Robin Frijns take over from Red Bull Junior driver António Félix da Costa at the wheel of the RB8.

Robin earned his place in the cockpit by virtue of winning this year's Formula Renault 3.5 series and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands. The Dutchman's morning was spent on aero work but in the afternoon, around some mechanical testing, there was time for some performance runs and Robin ended the day with a lap of 1:43,233. That left him fourth on the timesheet, just under six tenths off pacesetting GP2 champion Davide Valsecchi.

Davide Valsecchi tops the time sheets in Abu Dhabi Young Driver Test

The final day of the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi saw reigning GP2 Series champion Davide Valsecchi top the time sheets in the race winning E20. Davide completed a total of 86 laps, running a comprehensive testing programme and showcasing his talent by quickly getting up to speed with the car and team.

Today signals the end of the Young Driver Test, with Lotus F1 Team having completed a total of 213 laps and gaining valuable data as the focus now turns towards the forthcoming United States Grand Prix next weekend.

Cyril Abiteboul Promoted to Team Principal of Caterham F1 Team

Caterham F1 Team has today confirmed that Cyril Abiteboul has been promoted to the role of Team Principal with immediate effect. He will combine that role with his current responsibilities as CEO, a post he took up in September 2012.

Tony Fernandes, Caterham Group Chairman: "Having launched our partnership with Renault in Paris on Monday the plan Kamarudin and I formed over three years ago for our automotive interests has come to fruition. The strategy for the establishment and growth of Caterham Group has now reached the stage where we can step back from the day to day running of the F1 team in favour of Cyril who will be able to dedicate himself full time to the role and work closely with Riad to help take our automotive interests into the next stage of their growth.

Red Bull continue to collect lots of useful data at Abu Dhabi Young Driver Test

For the second day of Formula One's Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi, Red Bull Junior driver António Félix da Costa returned to the cockpit of the RB8 for his final outing at the Yas Marina Circuit. And with a point to prove, the young Portuguese driver set the day's fastest lap, clocking a time of 1:42.679.

António's day was again split into sessions of aero and mechanical work, with the morning given over to aero mapping and the afternoon to tyre work as well the testing of some car components.
