Champions League: Atletico sign off at Vicente Calderon with a win, but Real still progress to Final

Real Madrid booked a place in the Champions League final despite their 1-2 defeat in the semi-final return leg to Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon stadium.

A close range goal from Isco on the break of half-time was vital in easing Real Madrid into the final on 4-2 aggregate after a blistering start by their rivals, who won 2-1 here on Wednesday night.

Inter Milan coach Stefano Pioli was fired three games before the end of the football season, the Serie A giants announced.

Pioli took over from Dutchman Frank De Boer two months into the campaign but the club risks falling short of their goal of earning a place in next season's European campaign.

Juventus coach Massimilano Allegri feels the reigning Serie A champions have a very good chance of winning the UEFA Champions League title this season. Juventus overcame French football league leaders AS Monaco 2-1 in the second leg of their semi-final tie at their home ground here on Tuesday night to progress to the final with a 4-1 aggregate scoreline.


"Hopefully this is the right year. I think Juventus have a very good chance of winning," Allegri said after the match at the Juventus Stadium.


Juventus beat Monaco to cruise into Champions League Final

Italian Serie A leaders Juventus booked their second appearance in UEFA Champions League final over the past three years with a 2-1 home win and 4-1 on aggregate over Ligue 1 side Monaco.

Mario Mandzukic and Dani Alves on Tuesday extended the hosts' advantage to four goals in the first half, before promising star Kylian Mbappe pulled one back for Monaco.


Champions League Preview: Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid

Tensions are likely to run high on Wednesday when Atletico Madrid look to overturn a 0-3 deficit at home to Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final.

Valencia Head Coach Voro to quit at the end of the season

Valencia head coach Salvador 'Voro' Gonzalez has confirmed he will quit his post at the end of the football season. The 53-year-old on Saturday made his declaration during a press conference ahead of Sunday's league match at home against Osasuna.

Voro stepped in as caretaker coach on December 30 after Italian Cesare Prandelli resigned from the role. He had also been in the role earlier in the season before Prandelli replaced Paco Ayestaran, who lasted for just four games of the current campaign.


Ligue 1: Monaco maintain 3 point cushion over PSG

Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain are set to put the Ligue 1 football title chase deadlocked for another round having both picked up three easy points. While Leaders Monaco won 3-0 over Nancy away on Saturday, keeping a three-point cushion over PSG, who controversially battered bottom-ranked Bastia 5-0 at Parc des Princes in the capital.

Monaco took the lead on Nancy defender Tobias Badila's own goal just three minutes into the game, before that was extended by Bernardo Silva, who headed in Thomas Lemar's cross from the left. Kylian Mbappe, Monaco's 18-year-old sensation, took advantage of his speed to set up Lemar for a three-goal margin with four minutes to go.
