Emre Can to miss start of 2017-18 season

After being named in Germanys 23-man squad for the Confederations Cup in Russia, Liverpool midfielder Emre Can will miss the start of club football pre-season training. The 23-year-old has been called up by Joachim Low for the tournament which takes place from June 17 to July 2.

Can, in all likelihood, will be granted three weeks off by Jurgen Klopp after the Confederations Cup.

Watford Manager Walter Mazzarri to leave at the end of the season

English football club Watford on Wednesday announced that head coach Walter Mazzarri will leave at the end of the season.

"After the Board discussed with Walter Mazzarri the club's future goals and aspirations, it was decided he will be stepping down from his position as the head coach after the final game of the 2016/17 season," Watford FC Chairman Scott Duxbury said in a statement.

Tottenham Hotspur bid farewell to their home at White Hart Lane with a 2-1 victory over Manchester United in week 37 of English Premier League (EPL) action, finishing the football season without a single home loss for the first time since the 1964-1965 season.

Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama opened the scoring for Spurs at the six-minute mark with a thumping header that gave David de Gea absolutely no chance. Four minutes into the second half, Christian Eriksen sent a flawless cross that found Harry Kane, who fired it into the roof of the net to double Tottenham's tally.

Liverpool thrashed West Ham United 4-0 in week 37 of English Premier League (EPL) action at the London Stadium, boosting its hopes of qualifying for the next edition of the Champions League.

English striker Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring for Liverpool in the 35th minute before Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho scored the second goal for the Reds at the 57-minute mark and scored again four minutes later on Sunday.

Hull City relegated after 4-0 thrashing at Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace on Sunday thrashed Hull City 4-0 in the English Premier League (EPL), sending the losers off to the English football championship second tier along with Sunderland and Middlesbrough.

Hull were in desperate need of a victory to try and avoid disaster after Swansea defeated Sunderland 2-0 on Saturday. However, Marco Silva's men lacked the inspiration and suffered an crushing four-goal defeat. Wilfried Zaha, Christian Benteke, Luka Milivojevic and Patrick van Aanholt scored for Crystal Palace and guaranteed their team another season up in the Premier League.

Michy the unlikely hero as Chelsea clinch Premier League title

Capital football club Chelsea grabbed their second English Premier League (EPL) title in three seasons with a 1-0 victory here over West Bromwich Albion as they took an unassailable 10-point lead over second-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea, who started Friday's contest with 84 points from 35 matches, needed to win just one of their final three games to assure themselves of their fifth league title. Substitute striker Michy Batshuayi's 82nd-minute goal gave Chelsea a 1-0 win over West Bromwich.
