Yaya Toure inks new 1 year deal with Manchester City

Veteran midfielder Yaya Toure has signed a one-year extension with the English Premier League (EPL) football giants Manchester City after his contract expired at the end of the 2016-17 season.

City's Director of Football Txiki Begiristain said in a statement on Thursday: "Yaya has been a fantastic servant for Manchester City and continues to be a vital member of Pep Guardiola's squad. He is one of our most experienced and popular players and we couldn't be happier that he is staying with us as we embark on what we all hope will be a very exciting season.

Leicester City's star winger Riyad Mahrez on Tuesday handed a transfer request to the 2015-16 English football champions saying he wants to challenge for major honours next season.

Mahrez played a major role in helping the low profile club defy all the odds to win the English Premier League (EPL) title last season. Leicester finished 12th in this EPL season and their high was reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, with Mahrez scoring 10 goals across all competitions.

Bolstered by the FA Cup triumph, Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger has said he will go into Tuesday's board meeting full of confidence in securing a new contract with the capital football giants.

Arsenal beat 10-man Chelsea 2-1 last Saturday to clinch the title after bossing the game for large parts. It salvaged some pride for the beleaguered Wenger who has been on the brink of getting the boot after failing to secure a Champions League spot.

Fabregas fuming about FA Cup Final snub

Former Arsenal skipper and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas revealed today that he was bitterly disappointed at having been left out of the starting eleven for the FA Cup final yesterday and while he respects Manager Antonio Conte's decision and shares a special relationship with the club's fans, he hasn't ruled out the possibility of leaving the club this summer.

The 30 year old playmaker was brought on an hour into the match and contributed more during his brief period on the pitch in terms of passes attempted and completed than Nemanja Matic had done during the preceding hour.

Courtois: "The first goal should never have been allowed"

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was disappointed by Alexis Sanchezs opening goal for Arsenal in the FA Cup final, which the recently crowned English Premier League (EPL) champions lost 1-2, and said it should have been disallowed.

Courtois said Sanchez's goal in the fourth minute of the FA Cup final at the Wembley Stadium here on Saturday evening. However, television replays raised doubts on the referee's decision to award the goal.

Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 to win record 13th FA Cup

Arsenal became the most successful club in the 154-year FA Cup history after lifting the trophy for a record 13th time with a victory over recently crowned English Premier League champions Chelsea 2-1 on Saturday.

The Gunners dominated the first half at Wembley, pulling ahead with a controversial goal from Alexis Sanchez in the fourth minute. The Chilean striker opened the scoring after a solo run. Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey was ruled offside but Antony Taylor overruled his assistant's decision and allowed Sanchez's goal.

Chelsea shotstopper Thibaut Courtois showed the true spirit of the FA Cup as he was quick to congratulate the Blues' North London rivals, Arsenal, after the Gunners stunned the Premier League Champions 2-1 to win their thirteenth FA Cup crown.

Speaking to the club's official website after the game, Courtois said, "We are obviously disappointed but I want to say congratulations to Arsenal. They played a good game."
