RAM SLAM T20 Challenge Preview: Hollywoodbets Dolphins v VKB Knights

Hollywoodbets Dolphins assistant coach Imraan Khan is hoping they can build on their impressive start to the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge when they host the VKB Knights at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead in Durban on Friday.

The KwaZulu-Natal franchise dispatched the WSB Cape Cobras in record fashion at their tournament opener in Centurion last Sunday thanks to a flying Sarel Erwee century that helped them post the highest ever score in the competition’s history – they made 231/2. 


RAM SLAM T20 Challenge: Morkel, ABD power Titans to easy win

A brutal display of power-hitting by Albie Morkel and AB de Villiers helped the defending champions Multiply Titans begin their RAM SLAM T20 Challenge with a destructive eight-wicket Duckworth/Lewis victory over the bizhub Highveld Lions in Centurion on Sunday.

The pair both scored at a strike of over 250 as the hosts chased down a revised target of 135 in only 11.2 overs to win with a bonus point at SuperSport Park. 


Kieron Pollard to lead Bloem City Blazers in T20 GL

Kieron Pollard, the West Indies all-rounder, has been named as captain of the Bloem City Blazers for the inaugural T20 Global League starting in South Africa in November. The explosive player has had several involvements in leaderships roles, and has previously captained the Mumbai Indians (IPL) and recently the Barbados Tridents in the 2017 edition of the Caribbean Premier League.

Head coach, Phil Simmons, says Pollard brings a number of valuable qualities to the role, along with supreme international and domestic T20 experience: “Polly is a World-Cup winning player and has won numerous T20 domestic titles across the globe; his leadership is a vital asset to the Bloem City Blazers. He brings with him a deep understanding of the game and the energy and passion to inspire the squad in our first attempt at T20 Global League success.”


Africa T20 Cup: Serame sets Boland up for bonus points win

Nkululeko Serame claimed three wickets to help Boland secure a bonus points victory in their only completed match in Pool D at the Africa T20 Cup on Sunday as they demolished Zimbabwe by 10 wickets at Buffalo Park in East London.

The right-arm off-break bowler took a career-best three for 17 as the Paarl side skittled the Africans for a paltry 76, before Pieter Malan (32 off 25 balls) and Ricardo Vasconcelos (45 off 28 balls) knocked off the runs in just 8.5 deliveries. 


Africa T20 Cup: Mfoza, Erwee star in KZN Inland win

Nduduzo Mfoza and Sarel Erwee turned in powerful performances as Hollywoodbets KwaZulu-Natal Inland kicked off their Africa T20 Cup campaign with a three-wicket win over Zimbabwe at Buffalo Park in East London on Friday.

Slow left-armer Mfoza first claimed an extraordinary three for eight in 12 deliveries to help restrict the opposition to 165/7, before opener Erwee plundered 80 from only 43 balls, ensuring his side did enough early on to win with 11 balls remaining. 


Africa T20 Cup:; Teenager Mokgakane stuns Kenya

A stunning return of three wickets for four runs by 17-year-old Andile Mokgakane helped already eliminated Hollywoodbets KwaZulu-Natal secure an upset 24-run win over Kenya in their final Pool C clash at the Africa T20 Cup in Kimberley on Sunday.

The medium-pacer took his wickets in four deliveries across a two-over spell as the men from Durban defended a paltry 116 all out by dismissing the group leaders for only 92. 


Africa T20 Cup: All-round Du Plooy puts Free State in semis

Leus du Plooy starred with bat and ball as the Kloppers Expert Free State Team completed a brilliant turnaround to reach the Africa T20 Cup semi-finals with a 62-run demolition of rivals Northern Cape at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley on Sunday.

The Bloemfontein side, who had to win the game in order to top Pool C, won in style by dismissing the hosts for just 77 in 16.4 overs after first posting 139/6. 


Africa T20 Cup: Free State, Kenya set to launch Pool C

Free State coach Edward Mokoenanyana has predicted that Pool C at the Africa T20 Cup will go right down to the wire ahead of their opening match against Kenya at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley on Friday.

The men from Bloemfontein are also grouped alongside last year’s finalists, Northern Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal, with the only the top side progressing to the knockout stages later this month. 


Africa T20 Cup: Bosman prepared for home challenge

Northern Cape coach Loots Bosman feels his side are as prepared as can be ahead of hosting Africa T20 Cup Pool C at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley this weekend. The home side take on KwaZulu-Natal in their opening game on Friday, before playing Kenya and then regional rivals Free State in what is expected to be the highlight of the group on Sunday.

Former South Africa batsman Bosman believes they are ready for the challenge. “We are looking forward to this year's competition,” he said. “It's exciting and gives our players a good platform to express and showcase their skills.
