West Ham manager Slaven Bilic said Chinese Super League clubs are very interested in striker Andy Carroll but the club will not sell its best player.

Carroll, who previously played at Newcastle and Liverpool, has been plagued with injury this season, scoring only six times in 12 Premier League appearances.

Manchester City made the most of a midweek series of games that saw all of their rivals in the top 6 in the Premier League drop points, thrashing West Ham United 4-0 at the Olympic Stadium with Gabriel Jesus opening his account for the Citizens after star striker Sergio Aguero was left on the bench.

City, one of the few teams now to make mass changes from the side that won them their FA Cup game away to Crystal Palace at the weekend, earned the rewards of consistency with their cracking front five dovetailing beautifully as they tore a poor West Ham side completely to shreds.

West Ham are believed to have made a late attempt to land Chelsea playmaker Cesc Fabregas as a replacement for Dmitri Payet, who ended his month long dispute with the Hammers to re-join former club Olympic Marseille.

Fabregas, a former star at Arsenal and Barcelona, has spent the better part of this season warming the bench at Chelsea after failing to regularly feature in Manager Antonio Conte's first choice eleven.

West Ham United has accused French Dimitri Payet of lack of commitment and respect after his move from the English football club to Olympique de Marseille.

According to statements released on West Ham's official website, co-chairman David Sullivan voiced his disappointment after the Frenchman moved to the French side for $32 million.

West Ham United have announced the signing of veteran Portuguese defender Jose Fonte from their English football league rival Southampton on a two-and-a-half-year contract for a fee of eight million pounds ($9.9 million).

"I signed for West Ham because they are a great club and a very big club. They have a lot of fans and I have known for a number of years how passionate they are," the 33-year-old Euro 2016 winner with Portugal told West Ham's website on Friday night.

New Valencia striker Simone Zaza said he decided to sign for the Spanish football club because it showed the most interest and his intention is to stay here even after his loan period from Juventus expires.

The Italian striker arrived at Valencia on loan from Juventus until the end of the season, after having had a poor spell away to West Ham for the first half of this season. Interestingly, the Spanish club has a purchase option after the loan period ends.

Italian striker Simone Zaza's father and agent Antonio on Thursday announced that his son will take or leave the offer from Spanish football club Valencia over the next 48 hours.

Zaza, 25, moved last summer from Juventus on loan to West Ham United; however, he has not had much luck in the English Premier League (EPL), while Antonio stressed that his son has to think carefully about the move because this is an important step in his career.
