A brace from Swedish Super striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic powered Manchester United to a thrilling win in the English Football League Cup Final, defeating an unfortunate Southampton side, 3-2 at Wembley.

Southampton had the ball in the back of the net with Manolo Gabbiadini converting from Cedric Soares' pass after Ryan Bertrand had run Antonio Valencia ragged down the right. Unfortunately for the Saints, the Assistant Referee made a very poor decision, flagging the Italian striker offside, even though he was behind Chris Smalling when the ball came in from the right.

Having already been knocked out of one Cup competition by Southampton this season, Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger is well aware of the threat the Saints possess, especially on home turf.

Add to that the fact that Southampton are very much on a high at the moment, having just stunned Liverpool to reach the Final of the League Cup, and Wenger knows Arsenal will need to be at their very best if they are to advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup this season.

Southampton ended Arsenal's unbeaten run in all competitions at 19 matches, beating the Gunners 2-0 to knock the North London giants out of the League Cup at the quarter-final stage, the third straight time that Arsenal have been beaten at home by Premier League opposition in this competition, one which Manager Arsene Wenger perpetually uses to blood young players - despite being just 3 wins away from a trophy.

Arsenal made 10 changes to the side that beat Bournemouth at the weekend with Mohamed Elneny the only member of that winning team to keep his place in the starting eleven. Southampton meanwhile made 8 changes of their own, though the experience of the players that they brought in for this game was there for all to see.
