Barcelona have made their strike force arguably the best in Europe by signing Neymar to partner Messi up front. But that hasn’t been their primary concern in the recently concluded season, with their highly embarrassing drubbing at the hands of Bayern Munich last season still fresh in the minds of all fans. It has been their leaky defence that has been a major cause for concern with Gerard Pique being the sole half-decent defender in the side. Barcelona are, hence, unsurprisingly looking to strengthen their back line by attempting to sign Thiago Silva from Paris St. Germain.
Laurent Blanc might be chasing Edinson Cavani to help bolster his attack but despite the expense of the transfer, he is certainly not willing to let go of the best centre back in the world in Silva. Moreover, the fact that they signed him only a year back gives them added reason to not let the defender leave the club in a hurry. Barcelona, as reported by ESPN, are now looking at another Brazilian and contemplating whether or not to take a chance on unpredictable Chelsea centre back David Luiz.
