The transfer war between clubs in the Premier League is about to be reignited this summer with a plethora of players being the target of gossip columns, with the latest one to hit the headlines being Santi Cazorla. Reports on CaughtOffside.com suggest that Manuel Pellegrini might try to lure the Gunners’ playmaker to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Cazorla has already played under the 59 year old Pellegrini during his time at Villarreal and Malaga, and the incoming Manchester City boss would like to see the 28 year old grace his midfield once again.

Manchester City midfielder David Silva has recovered from a hamstring injury quicker than expected and has been passed fit for the Manchester derby at the weekend by the club’s medical staff.

Silva did not travel with the team to Germany for their Champions League game against Dortmund, which the English champions lost 1-0, and it was widely believed that he would not be fit in time for the derby at the Etihad. However, following some special training sessions, he was declared fit for the derby game and the news would come as a huge sigh of relief for manager Roberto Mancini who has been under pressure recently for his side’s showing in Europe.

Manchester City star David Silva will be unavailable for their Champions League fixture against Ajax next Wednesday after picking up a hamstring injury in the World Cup Qualifier against France this week.

The Spaniard had to be pulled off the pitch after just 13 minutes as the European champions played out a 1-1 draw against France. The winger is due for a scan on his injured hamstring and an early prognosis suggests that the 26 year-old could spend two to three weeks on the sidelines, according to the Daily Mail.

Manchester City have finally agreed on a new contract with their star midfielder David Silva as the Spaniard signed a new five-year deal to stay at Eastlands. An official announcement on their club website conveyed, "David Silva is the latest big name, world star to pledge his long-term future to Manchester City, by agreeing a new five-year contract to run until summer 2017."

The 26 year-old is a youth product of La Liga side Valencia and left the club to join the English champions in 2010. The creative midfielder played an integral role for the Citizens as they returned to the top of the Premier League after a gap of 44 years.

Real Madrid were understood to be planning a swoop for David Silva as contract talks between Man City and the player had reportedly reached an impasse over the summer. City though are now prepared to offer the Spanish midfielder a hefty £200,000-a-week wage packet to tie him down at the Etihad Stadium for five years, claimed the Daily Mail.

The 26 year-old left boyhood club Valencia to join the Premier League champions in 2010. Since then, the Spaniard has gone on to make over 100 appearances for the Citizens and played a key role in helping City win the Premier League title last season after a gap of 44 years.
