Premier League champions Leicester City defeated Sevilla 2-0 in the second leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie to move into the quarter-finals on an aggregate score of 3-2. West Morgan (27th minute) and Marc Albrighton (54th) on Tuesday gave Leicester a 2-0 win at the King Power Stadium despite Sevilla coming into the game with a 2-1 first leg win in Seville.

Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel saved a penalty from Steven N'Zonzi to give the English club one of its biggest performances in its history.

Sevilla were good enough to beat Athletic Club Bilbao 1-0 and remain on the heels of Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race for the La Liga title. Athletic, meanwhile, suffered their ninth consecutive away loss on Thursday, squandering an opportunity to snatch seventh place from Eibar.

The visitors came into the match having won only once at Seville's Sanchez Pizjuan since the turn of the century and facing a side that has won all but two of their home games this season. Between them, the two teams were missing 10 starters to injury and suspension.

Sevilla dominated nearly all of their Champions League first-leg football tie against Leicester City before Jamie Vardy gave the visitors a vital equaliser in the away game, which the Spanish club won 2-1.

Watched by coach Jorge Sampaoli, who was in the stands due to his one-match suspension on Wednesday, Sevilla overcame the possible effects of an early penalty miss when Joaquin Correa's spot-kick was saved by Leicester's Kasper Schmeichel.

Sevilla ended Real Madrid's 40-game unbeaten run and threw the race for the Spanish top division title wide open by beating the league leaders 2-1 following a dramatic comeback at the Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium here.

A tense first half saw both sides trade blows in a high-octane affair on Sunday night. Madrid took the lead in the 67th minute when Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the penalty spot after Sevilla keeper Sergio Rico needlessly brought down Madrid fullback Dani Carvajal.

Spanish football club Sevilla has announced the transfer of French defender Timothee Kolodziejczak to Borussia Monchengladbach.

Kolodziejczak has already passed his medical and will join the Monchengladbach training camp next Friday in Marbella in Spain, Sevilla announced on Wednesday.
