Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and her doubles partner Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium defeated Naomi Osaka and Shuai Zhang in straight sets to advance to the second round of Wimbledon on Thursday.

It was a cake walk for the Indo-Belgian pair as they outplayed their Janapese-Chinese opponents 6-4, 6-3 in an hour and 12 minutes at Court 11.

Sania Mirza and her partner Barbora Strycova fought off a strong challenge from Martina Hingis and Chan Yung-Jan to reach the women's double final at the Miami Open tennis tournament.

Sania and Barbora lost the opening set of their semi-final clash here on Friday evening before staging a superb comeback to script a 6-7, 6-1, [10-4] against their fifth seeded opponents.

Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and her doubles partner Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic eased into the second round of the BNP Paribas Open after defeating German-Latvian duo of Julia Goerges and Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 6-4 at Indian Wells.

The fourth seeded Indo-Czech pair, who decided to play together in 2016, consumed just over an hour and 15 minutes after staving off four of eight possible break points from their opponents on Thursday night. Goerges and Ostapenko were broken six times during the tie.

Sania Mirza's aim for her seventh major tennis title ended in despair as she and Croatian partner Ivan Dodig were beaten 2-6, 4-6 by the unseeded duo of American Abigail Spears and Colombian Juan Sebastian Cabal in the Australian Open mixed doubles final on Sunday. The Indo-Croatian pair went down tamely in just an hour and three minutes.

Sania was bidding for her seventh major tennis title, and first with Croatian partner Ivan Dodig, in the Australian Open mixed doubles final where the second seeds took on the unseeded American-Colombian pair.

Sania Mirza will be bidding for her seventh major tennis title, and first with Croatian partner Ivan Dodig, in the Australian Open mixed doubles final where the second seeds take on unseeded American Abigail Spears and Colombian Juan Sebastian Cabal on Sunday.

Sania-Dodig overcame a tough one-hour-18-minute battle in the semi-final against Aussies Samantha Stosur and Sam Groth 6-4, 2-6, (10-5) on Friday. Abigail-Cabal defeated Elina Svitolina of Ukraine and Aussie Chris Guiccione 7-6 (1), 6-2 in the last four stage.

Indian superstar Sania Mirza and her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig defeated local favourites Samantha Stosur and Sam Groth to enter the Australian Open mixed doubles final on Friday. The second seeded Indo-Croatian pair battled past the Australian duo 6-4, 2-6, [10-5].

Stosur and Groth had beaten the Indo-Swiss pairing of Leander Paes and Martina Hingis yesterday and were hoping to go all the way in their home Grand Slam.

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig came from behind to beat Indo-Canadian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Gabriela Dabrowski to reach the mixed doubles semi-finals of the Australian Open here on Wednesday.

The second seeded Indo-Croatian duo held their nerves to save two match points in their 6-4, 3-6, [12-10] win against the unseeded pair of Bopanna and Dabrowski, who wasted as many as four match point chances, in a match that lasted an hour and seven minutes on Show Court 3.
