Night 10 at Flushing Meadows was a bit of a mixed bag as four completely one-sided sets were followed on court by high drama in two tiebreaks, as Caroline Wozniacki and Roger Federer advanced to the semi-finals of the 2009 US Open. While the 19-year old Dane won the first of hopefully many battles against 17-year old Melanie Oudin rather comfortably to enter her first Grand Slam semi-final, men's top seed Roger Federer fought off a late challenge from 12th seed Robin Soderling, including saving a set point which would have taken the match to five-sets, to book a place in his 22nd consecutive Grand Slam semi.

andy_roddick.jpgIt was a heavy day at Wimbledon in the Men's draw with as many as 10 places still up for grabs in the Round of 16 in the Gentlemen's Singles. Andys - Murray and Roddick continued to progress comfortably through the draw in what has been typical fashion for both, Murray in dominant fashion in straight sets, and Roddick dominant as well, but dropping the third set enroute to his victory.

Roddick was the first to make his way past veteran Jurgen Melzer needing a couple of tie-breaks to secure a 7-6 (2), 7-6 (2), 4-6, 6-3 win. roger_federer_11.jpgThe final piece in the jigsaw puzzle was finally put in its rightful place as Roger Federer won his first French Open in his 4th final. As Roger Federer slumped to his knees in celebration, the crowd rose as one in acknowledgement of the bit of history created in front of their eyes with the Swiss Maestro realizing his dream of completing the Grand Slam. Robin Soderling in his first Grand Slam final never really got into the game and despite his efforts came up short as Federer dominated throughout to win in straight sets
