Record European football champions Real Madrid have announced the signing of Brazilian teenager Vinicius Junior of Flamengo for a reported transfer fee of around 45 million euros ($50.4 million).

The deal will take effect in July next year but the 16-year-old will remain at Flamengo until July 2019, according to a Real Madrid statement on Tuesday.

Real Madrid were on Sunday crowned the Liga Santander Champions following a 2-0 win over Malaga while Villarreal and Real Sociedad have qualified for the Europa league.

The result on Sunday meant that the club has won its first domestic league title since 2012, putting an end to a five year drought in which FC Barcelona have lifted the title on three occasions and Atletico Madrid once.

Cristiano Ronaldo contributed a brace as Real Madrid pounded Celta Vigo 4-1 in a Spanish top division football match. Wednesday night's outcome leaves Real Madrid needing only a draw against Malaga next weekend to claim the La Liga title.

Ronaldo put the visitors ahead 1-0 in the 10th minute, blasting the ball past Celta goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez after a pass from Isco Alarcon.

Neymar scored a hat-trick for FC Barcelona as the La Liga leaders won 4-1 in Las Palmas to ensure that the race for the title will go into the last weekend of the football season.

Barca remain level on points with Real Madrid, but Madrid's 4-1 win at home to Sevilla means that if they take a point from their visit to Celta Vigo on Wednesday they will go to the top of the table and be favorites to be crowned champions next Sunday.

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has said the Champions League final match against Juventus will be a special one.

Despite their 1-2 defeat in the semi-final return leg to Atletico Madrid, Real booked their place in the final, which will be played on June 3 in Cardiff. A close range goal from Isco three minutes before the half-time was crucial as Real entered the summit clash on 4-2 aggregate after a brilliant start by their rivals on Wednesday. For Atletico, Saul Niguez and Antoine Griezmann were the goal-scorers.

Tensions are likely to run high on Wednesday when Atletico Madrid look to overturn a 0-3 deficit at home to Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final.

Last Tuesday saw Real Madrid produce a convincing display and Cristiano Ronaldo score a hat-trick against an Atletico side that was almost unrecognisable to the team that is usually so hard to beat.
