After having sold Paddy McNair and Donald Love to Sunderland last week, Manchester United's new boss Jose Mourinho has axed another talented young defender from his squad with Tyler Blackett having moved to Championship side Reading on a three year contract.

The 22-year-old defender first joined the Red Devils in his hometown of Manchester at the age of eight, and now links up with a former United defender in the shape of Reading's current boss Jaap Stam at the Madejski Stadium.

Reading FC today announced Joey van den Berg as the club's second summer arrival, after he penned a two-year deal to join the Royals.

Like compatriot Danzell Gravenberch, who agreed a move to Madejski Stadium last month, Dutchman Van den Berg will officially become a Royal at the start of July when the registration window opens.

Reading Football Club confirmed today the appointment of Jaap Stam as first team Manager at Madejski Stadium. The Kampen-born former PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, Lazio and AC Milan centre-back becomes the Royals first boss from overseas in the club’s history, taking the reins immediately at the start of an initial two-year contract at Reading.

Fellow Dutch duo Andries Ulderink and Said Bakkati are set to join Stam at Madejski Stadium as part of his new-look coaching team – having both worked with the new boss as coaches at Ajax. First team coaches Steven Reid and Dave Beasant will both remain in their positions at the club, forming part of Stam’s first team staff.

Reading Football Club announced today that forward Dominic Samuel has signed a new contract with the club, which will keep him at Madejski Stadium until 2018.

The 21-year-old striker was involved in the pre-season preparations ahead of the current campaign, and claimed an assist against the Thai All Stars in Bangkok before finding the net away at Bristol Rovers.  Samuel made substitute appearances in each of the first two competitive fixtures of the campaign, although he has been unavailable while recovering from a knee injury in recent weeks.

Chelsea have completed the signing of young defender Michael Hector from Championship side Reading, with the player understood to have put pen to paper on a five year deal at Stamford Bridge, according to a confirmation made on the Blues’ official website.

It is further revealed that the player will be moving back on loan to the Madejski Stadium for the 2015-16 season.

Chelsea are believed to be gearing up to complete the signing of Reading defender Michael Hector for a transfer fee of around £4m, according to reports in Sky Sports.

The 23 year old, who has been associated with Reading since the year 2009, has already spent time on loan at a horde of lower league English sides. He was also a part of the Jamaican national team that impressed with their fighting performances at the Copa America earlier in the summer.

Reading Football Club confirmed today that defender Stephen Kelly has not agreed a new contract for next season. The Royals discussed a new contract with the Irish international defender, but could not reach an agreement and the 31-year-old is moving on to pastures new.

Kelly’s departure comes soon after Jem Karacan joined Galatasaray, while Adam Federici, Alex Pearce and Mikkel Andersen also left, having spent their entire professional careers at Madejski Stadium, so this summer has seen a changing of the guard at the club.
