Real Madrid ended Napoli's 18-game unbeaten run to take an important step towards the quarter-finals of the Champions League as they look to defend the title they won last season.

Italian football club Napoli have ended weeks of speculation by signing highly-rated Brazilian teenager Leandrinho from Ponte Preta. The Serie A club reportedly beat off interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City to bag the 18-year-old striker.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed the move with a brief welcome message on Twitter.

Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik has received the green light to return to training with the Italian football club after being out for 97 days due to a knee injury.

The 22-year-old went on Thursday afternoon to a clinic for a check up with the doctor who operated on him in October, Napoli said on Twitter.

Italian Serie A side Napoli on Tuesday announced the signing of striker Leonardo Pavoletti from Genoa. Napoli had reached an agreement with Genoa President Enrico Preziosi in December and confirmed on Tuesday the inclusion of the Italian international, as the winter transfer market officially opened.

Pavoletti, 28, signed for Napoli after scoring 23 goals in 44 games with Genoa and will sport jersey no. 32.

Italian football club Napoli are close to signing highly rated Brazilian teenager Leandrinho, according to media reports. The 18-year-old has traveled to Naples to sign a five-year deal with the Italian Serie A club, Globo Esporte said on Tuesday.

Leandrinho's contract with Ponte Preta expires within weeks, meaning the Brazilian club has minimal bargaining power in the deal. The striker has represented Brazil 16 times at under-17 level, scoring 11 goals.

Napoli are currently third in Italy's Serie A championship with 10 wins, four draws and three losses so far this season.


Juventus head coach Massimilano Allegri has played down the importance of his side's upcoming Serie A football game against title challengers Napoli on Saturday, saying that the match's result won't be decisive for the title race.

Top-placed and defending champions Juventus are four points ahead of last season's runners-up Napoli, who have accumulated 20 points from 10 matches.
