Back in domestic action after the defeat in the Europa League on Thursday, Manchester United went down 1-3 to Watford at Vicarage Road after goals from Etienne Capoue, Juan Camilo Zuniga and Troy Deeney for the hosts, with Marcus Rashford replying for United. The defeat was the third straight for United, prompting Spanish midfielder Juan Mata to write on his blog about the need for the side to come together.

The former Chelsea playmaker wrote, "As I always say, one of the best things of football is that the game is testing you all the time. A win doesn't last too long, and it happens the same way with a defeat: you have the chance to make it up soon afterwards. Two more games this week will give us the opportunity to show on the pitch our pride and skills. There's no time for mourning. We must react."

New Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho, who has plenty of history with Juan Mata, having sold him to the Red Devils during his time at Chelsea because of the player's reported poor defensive work ethic, came under fire after his FA Community Shield win for withdrawing the Spaniard in the dying moments of the contest after having brought him on late in the second half itself.

Mata was reported as being none too pleased with his manager's decision and reluctantly trudged off the pitch, and had a right old go at Mourinho, who attempted to cajole the player, and then left it to his assistants to deal with the disgruntled Spaniard.

Manchester United's struggles under new Management continue early this season as Louis van Gaal's team continues to look for its first win of the 2014-15 campaign after being held to a 1-1 draw by a battling Sunderland side at the Stadium of Light. Man United took the lead in the 17th minute through Juan Mata, very much against the run of play, only for Sunderland to level on the half hour mark through summer signing Jack Rodwell from a corner. Neither side did enough to deserve a win in a game where chances were truly at a premium, and despite some nervy defending late on from Sunderland, they were good value for a share of the spoils.

Manchester United made two changes to their side from the defeat to Swansea City with Robin van Persie and Antonio Valencia thrust straight into the playing eleven following their return from injuries; Javier Hernandez and Jesse Lingard made way. Manager Louis van Gaal reverted to his favoured 3-4-1-2 formation, a slight surprise considering he junked it midway through the game last week.

Reigning Premier League champions Manchester United showed the kind of squad depth and quality that we have come to expect from them over the years as they completely dominated a very lacklustre Newcastle United side 4-0 at St. James' Park on Saturday to not just notch up a fourth consecutive win on the road, but to also become the best team on the road in the Premier League this season.

A brace from Juan Mata and a goal each from Javier Hernandez and Adnan Januzaj ensured that United scored from each of their four attempts on target to script a comfortable win.

Manchester United’s winter transfer market acquisition, Juan Mata, has revealed that it was Jose Mourinho who encouraged him to agree to a switch to the reigning English champions.

The Spaniard was quoted telling Canal Plus: "We spoke and he [Mourinho] said that he thought this was a good option for me, and I told him I thought this was a good option for me. I wasn't playing, and to be honest, I am happy when I play football. It's the thing I like to do the most. He wished me good luck and told me to be good, as did everyone at the club [Chelsea]. I'm very grateful for my time at Chelsea and for all the trophies I have won."

Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos has admitted that he would be interested in a move to Manchester United. The 24 year old has played in every single one of Bayern’s Bundesliga games this season scoring one goal and assisting eight. He has been at the Bavarian club for almost seven years now after joining their youth setup in 2006.

Kroos has been a regular in the Bayern side ever since returning from a loan spell with Bayer Leverkusen in 2010. The two-time Bundesliga winner has performed consistently for the German giants often finding the back of the net or assisting his team mates. In terms of goals scored, Kroos has not been able to reach the heights he attained over the past seasons and question marks have been raised over his ability to perform at the highest level.

Sagna to get bumper payday… but not at Arsenal

Manchester City, one of the many clubs that have robbed Arsenal of their talented stars over the last decade are attempting one last audacious capture by offering French international Bacary Sagna what he and many others believes he deserves, one last major payday.
