The Premier League table is strangely reminiscent of the late 80s, the last time a manager was under pressure at Manchester United. Arsenal and Liverpool have been fighting it out at the top after brilliant starts to the campaign while the Red Devils are down in 8th place. United are no strangers to poor starts though, with Sir Alex Ferguson’s sides often picking up pace only around Christmas but there is no question about the immense pressure that David Moyes is under at this moment.
An abysmal transfer window followed by a difficult start in the Premier League, just four wins from nine games, has overwhelmingly exposed the task of the job facing Moyes. Following the most successful manager in the British game was never going to be easy for the ex-Everton boss and he has realized that the hard away after chastening defeats to Manchester City and West Brom. 1st place is eight points away for United and unless they start their usual winter run of victories the title could well be out of their reach by Christmas.
