Chelsea continue to lead the way in the battle for the Champions League spots after a 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford took them back to 3rd place in the standings. Chelsea rode on a late Juan Mata deflected goal, which was later credited to Phil Jones as an own goal. The encounter also saw Rafael Da Silva bagging the first red card for United this season in the Premier League as the Brazilian was sent off soon after the goal for a clash with his compatriot David Luiz. Champions Man United played their part in what was an evenly-balanced game, albeit played at a very poor tempo but they ultimately failed to score in the Theatre of Dreams for the first time in 67 games! The result leaves Chelsea two points above Arsenal in 4th and three above 5th placed Tottenham, whom the Blues face in a much-anticipated clash in mid-week. (Full Match Report)

Manchester United:

Anders Lindegaard: 7/10

The Dane got a chance to prove his mettle, and was decent in goal, making a few saves and collecting plenty of crosses. Some might argue that David De Gea might have stopped the winning goal, but all in all a pretty decent performance by Lindegaard.

Chelsea regain 3rd spot in the Premier League following a narrow 1-0 victory over Champions Manchester United at Old Trafford courtesy of a late own goal by Phil Jones, who deflected a strike from Juan Mata. The 87th minute goal was enough to see off United, who lost Rafael Da Silva to a red card soon after the goal. The game as a whole was disappointing as Man United unsurprisingly weren’t in full-gear while Chelsea lacked the composure in the final-third to make their possession count.

The first-half did witness some good football though as Oscar struck the woodwork and Robin Van Persie spurned a couple of chances.  The game seemed to be headed for a boring goalless draw until Chelsea's late smash-and-grab, with Jones the unfortunate party. United’s 3rd home loss has cost them the chance of raking up a record number of wins in a season while Chelsea go back to 3rd, a point ahead of Arsenal having played a game less.
