Chella Choi shot her second-consecutive 6-under 66 on Saturday to push her to 17-under par and takes a one-shot lead at the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic. Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist broke the tournament and course record with an 11-under 61 and is in a tie for second with Jessica Korda at 16-under par. LPGA and World Golf Halls of Famer Karrie Webb sits in solo fourth at 15-under par and trails the lead by two.

Choi marks the fourth different leader this week in Mobile and holds the lead heading into the final round for the first time in her career. Jessica Korda shot a bogey-free 7-under 65 on Friday to take the second-round lead at the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic and heads into the weekend at 13-under par. It was Korda’s second-consecutive bogey-free round in Mobile and was firing on all cylinders to take a one-shot lead over LPGA and World Golf Halls of Famer Karrie Webb. Webb had quite the day herself, finishing with a 9-under 63 which included three-consecutive birdies to close out her round.

But the round of the week so far went to second-year LPGA Tour member Sydnee Michaels who beat the tournament record by two strokes with a 10-under 62. It was Michaels’ career-best round by three shots and was a 10-stroke improvement from her first-round 72. The UCLA product jumped from T63 to a tie for fourth at 10-under par alongside Thailand’s Pornanong Phatlum and Thidapa Suwannapura.

The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail will serve as the backdrop for this week’s Mobile Bay LPGA Classic, where 144 pros will tee off on The Crossings Course at Magnolia Grove. With the total purse at $1.2 million, the winner will take away the $180,000 first-place check and etch their name next to four past champions that include Angela Stanford (2008), Se Ri Pak (2010), Maria Hjorth (2011) and Stacy Lewis (2012).

Lewis’ victory in Mobile last year was the first of four in 2012, which kick started her campaign for Rolex Player of the Year honors. She became the first winner of the 2012 season to capture a title with all four rounds in the 60s, ending the week at 17-under par and fighting off a Sunday charge from teenage standout Lexi Thompson.

Fifteen-time LPGA Tour winner Cristie Kerr made a serge up the leaderboard on Saturday to take a two-shot lead heading into the final round of the Kingsmill Championship. Kerr fired a 5-under 66 during Saturday’s round with Rolex Rankings No. 5 Suzann Pettersen and No. 2 Stacy Lewis trailing by two strokes.

Kerr, who is a two-time winner at the River Course at Kingsmill Resort, found herself in a familiar position after Saturday’s third round as she leads the field at 10-under par. She either led or co-led heading into the final round during each of her victories in 2005 and 2009, which gives her plenty of confidence heading into Sunday even though she has a strong group of players within striking distance.

The Thailand native leads Rolex Rankings No. 6 Suzann Pettersen and 2011 Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year Hee Kyung Seo by one shot after both fired rounds of 65 at Ko Olina Golf Club in Kapolei, Hawaii.

“I have like really good front nine, but I just want to like make more birdies because my record is 8-under, so I want to be lower,” said Jutanugarn, who shot 30 on the front nine. “When I have bogey on No. 10 I feel not very confident with my putting.  So when I have eagle [on the 14th], it make me like more confidence.”

The next battle for Rolex Rankings No. 1 has officially begun following Inbee Park’s ascension to the top spot today. Entering the LPGA LOTTE Championship Presented by J Golf, Park (9.28) holds a .04 average point lead over American Stacy Lewis (9.24), who held the No. 1 spot for the past four weeks.

“This is a very big day in my golf career,” Park said. “I’m so happy to share it with my family who are here in Hawaii with me. It’s nice to reach this goal, but I know a lot of players are close to No. 1. It gives me something else to play for every week and I know it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
