Chelsea have been keen to sign £20 million rated German striker Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen for quite a while now. However, that move hit a snag as the proposed exchange for Kevin de Bruyne was put on hold when the Belgian got feelers of interest from Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund, and would rather move to the higher performing club.

Bayer Leverkusen overcame Hamburg 1-0 in their last game in the Bundesliga this season. Schurrle played the entire ninety minutes being subbed in injury time so that he could get a round of applause from the fans, in what could well be his last game for the club.

The six short-listed names by the PFA include the highest scorers in the Premier League, Robin van Persie and Luis Suarez, the most devastating attacking players Gareth Bale, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard and finally Mr.Consistent himself Michael Carrick, reports the BBC. Bale is the overwhelming favourite to land the gong for a 2nd time following his exploits for Tottenham all season long and the Welshman was also unsurprisingly picked in the Young Player of the Year shortlist too, along with Hazard, Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck, Romelu Lukaku and Christian Benteke.

Man City offer whopping £13m-a-year contract to entice Cavani

Man City are prepared to flex their muscles in the transfer market once again and the number one target for last season’s Champions is Napoli’s Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan goal-machine could finally leave the Serie A this summer, with his destination either City or Real Madrid. According to the Sunday Mirror, North London club Arsenal are still in for the famed Bundesliga trio of Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze and Lars Bender and could look to launch a surprise 70 million pound bid in the summer. 24 year old Lewandowski is also strongly linked with a move to either Manchester United or Bayern Munich and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal can offer something more encouraging for the Polish star to end up at the Emirates.

Mario Gotze has long been touted as the next big thing in Germany and Arsene Wenger is known to be a huge admirer of the 20 year old attacking midfielder but German international seems content at Dortmund and has expressed his desire to join United, Barcelona or Real Madrid when he leaves Germany.

Roman Abramovich’s dream of Chelsea playing sexy football hasn’t truly been achieved yet and the Russian owner intends to spend further millions to ensure his dream is finally realized. Last summer’s splurge on Eden Hazard, Victor Moses, Marko Marin and Oscar hasn’t brought Chelsea a great deal of success, causing Abramovich to return to Bayer Leverkusen for Andre Scurrle according to the Metro. The German International has been on Chelsea’s radar for a long time now, with the Blues even placing three bids for the 22 year old last summer.

Leverkusen rejected all three offers though and Chelsea intend to sweeten the deal this time around by offering Kevin De Bruyne as makeweight. De Bruyne has never featured for Chelsea since his January 2012 move from Genk and has been on loan at Werder Bremen since last summer. Chelsea hope that £10m plus the Belgian winger will be enough to tempt Leverkusen into parting with Schurrle, who has £25m release clause on his contract which expires in 2016.

Chelsea youngster Kevin de Bruyne has drawn heavy attention during his loan spell at Werder Bremen this season. Bremen are keen on a permanent deal while their Bundesliga opponents Bayer Leverkusen are also plotting a move for the Belgian. De Bruyne’s performances have seen him make the first team for Belgium too but amid all the hype, his future at Stamford Bridge remains shrouded in doubt.

De Bruyne made the move to Chelsea a little over a year ago and after a lack of first team opportunities, he moved to Bremen on a season-long loan. The winger has shone in his time at Bremen, netting 6 goals and making 8 assists, having started all their league games. However, the player is unsure about a return to Chelsea at the end of the season although he feels he has done enough to merit a first team role at the West London club.
