Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) on Sunday cemented their place in the Indian Premier League (IPL) play-offs thrashing Kings XI Punjab by nine wickets at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Sunday.

The Pune victory came on the back of a superb performance by their bowlers which was later complemented by their top-rung batsmen to overhaul the meagre 74-run target set by a hapless Punjab.

Kings XI Punjab captain Glenn Maxwell on Tuesday hoped his team could put forward a similar performance in the next two games and qualify for the Indian Super League (IPL) playoffs.

Punjab, who beat already-qualified Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 14 runs here, now have 12 points from the same number of matches and play Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant away.

Kings XI Punjab stayed in contention in the race for playoffs with an upset victory over the second-placed Kolkata Knight Riders even as its top batsman Chris Lynn's 52-ball 84 went up in smoke in an Indian Premier League (IPL) game on Tuesday.

Punjab now have 12 points from the same number of matches and play Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant away. KKR, on the other hand, remained second despite the defeat with 16 points from 13 outings. They have already made the knockout stages.

Gujarat Lions rode on some powerful batting to defeat Kings XI Punjab by six wickets in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Sunday evening. Chasing a challenging target of 190 runs, Gujarat romped home with two deliveries to spare. Gujarat now have eight points from 12 matches, while Punjab remain on 10 points from 11 matches.

Dwayne Smith played a starring role for Gujarat, smashing 74 runs off a mere 39 deliveries, hitting eight boundaries and four towering sixes along the way. Smith and fellow opener Ishan Kishan gave Gujarat's chase a rocking start, producing a opening partnership of 91 runs in just 9.2 overs before Punjab pacer Thangarasu Natarajan ended it as Kishan hit a full length delivery into the hands of David Miller at deep midwicket.

Kings XI Punjab produced an excellent bowling performance to defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 19 runs in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match in Bengaluru on Friday. Defending a low total of 138 runs, Punjab dismissed the star-studded RCB batting line-up for 119 runs in 19 overs.

Medium-pacer Sandeep Sharma and left-arm spinner Axar Patel were the stars of the show with three wickets each. Patel returned figures of 3/11 in four overs while Sandeep took 3/22.

A confident Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will aim to keep their hopes of reaching the play-offs alive when they take on bottom-placed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Friday.

With eight losses and two wins, Bangalore are currently at the eighth spot and are decidedly out of the running for the IPL play-offs.

Kings XI Punjab dominated with both bat and ball to thrash a rather off-colour Delhi Daredevils by 10 wickets in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Sunday. Medium-pacer Sandeep Sharma played a starring role for Punjab, returning figures of 4/20 to bag the Man of the Match award as Delhi were bundled out for a mere 67 runs at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.

Delhi's total was the second lowest in this year's IPL after Royal Challengers Bangalore were dismissed for 49 during their 82-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens last week.
