Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Gautam Gambhir said if Chris Lynn can keep batting the way he did on Friday against Gujarat Lions, it will take the pressure off other batsmen in the team.

Lynn smacked 93 off just 41 balls at a strike rate of 226.82. The Australian's innings was laced with eight sixes and six fours as KKR marauded to a 10-wicket win over the Lions in the latter's own backyard chasing 184 for victory.

The Kolkata Knight Riders have beaten the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 22 runs at the Eden Garderns in the 4pm start on Sunday to book their place in the play-offs for Season 9 of the IPL. The match itself was an entertaining affair with KKR making full use of a poor decision from the Sunrisers Hyderabad to send them in on a pitch that would offer grip and turn as the match wore on to post a winning total of 171-6 on the board. The Sunrisers in response could manage only 149-8 in their 20 overs with Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav taking 5 wickets to ensure victory for the home side.

Robin Uthappa once again gave the Knight Riders an electric start, gliding the ball through the offside with unerring precision to post 25 before he fell to Barinder Sran. Colin Munro, picked ahead of Eoin Morgan today, failed to make the most of the opportunity afforded to him as he contributed just 10 and KKR looked in a spot of bother at 57-3 when Gautam Gambhir fell too after getting off to a start for 16.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore continued to make a late dash for the play-off berths, following up their impressive thrashing of the Gujarat Lions at the weekend with an equally exciting 9 wicket rout of the Kolkata Knight Riders in front of a capacity crowd at Eden Gardens.

The Royal Challengers won the toss and invited their hosts the Kolkata Knight Riders to have a bat. KKR produced a stop start innings, recovering from losing Robin Uthappa for just 2 to add 76 for the second wicket as Gautam Gambhi (51) and Manish Pandey (50) hit matching half-centuries. Both batsmen scored their runs freely, Gambhir taking 34 balls, while Pandey batted a ball longer.

The Kolkata Knight Riders joined the leaderboard logjam at the helm of the Indian Premier League standings, picking up another couple of points to move to 14 points and with it second place, courtesy of a thumping 8 wicket win over the Rising Pune Supergiants, who have as a result been mathematically eliminated from the competition.

Pune were realistically already out of contention for a play-off berth even before the game began, but a poor display with the bat as they stuttered to 103-6 in 17.4 overs before a long rain delay meant that they were given just 66 runs to defend in 9 overs courtesy of Messrs. Duckworth & Lewis. The Kolkata Knight Riders needed just 5 overs to achieve the target with Yusuf Pathan pummeling his way to 37 off 18 balls to ensure an easy win for KKR at the Eden Gardens on Saturday night.

The Gujarat Lions brought their losing streak to a halt at 3 games, and reclaimed top spot in the Indian Premier League standings, beating their closest rivals the Kolkata Knight Riders by 6 wickets at the Eden Gardens tonight.

The Lions won the toss and predictably invited the Knight Riders to have a bat. Praveen Kumar was the star of the show for the Lions early on, picking up a couple of big wickets at the top of the order, including that of Kolkata skipper Gautam Gambhir for 5. He was well supported by Dhawal Kulkarni, and surprise first change bowler Dwayne Smith as both men chipped in with a wicket each to reduce KKR to 24-4 with a ball left in the powerplay.

The Kolkata Knight Riders reclaimed second place in the Indian Premier League standings, squeezing out an entertaining 5 wicket win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium with 5 balls to spare.

The Knight Riders won the toss and invited the Royal Challengers to have a bat. The hosts did well, posting an impressive 185-7 on the board, but for the umpteenth time this season, their bowlers were powerless to defend it. RCB recalled Chris Gayle to their side, but the powerful West Indian failed to fire, contributing just 7 to his side's cause. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli made matching half-centuries, each contributing 52 with the wicketkeeper batsman taking 12 balls fewer than his skipper, racing to the milestone off just 32 ball.

The Rajasthan Royals booked their place in the knock-out rounds of season 8 of the Indian Premier League with a thrilling 9 run victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders in a must win match for both sides.

Both teams made some surprise selections, with Kolkata leaving out star spinners Sunil Narine and Brad Hogg, and instead recalling veteran Pakistani allrounder Azhar Mahmood, while the Rajasthan Royals handed a debut to lanky seamer Brainder Sran in a clutch game.
