Delhi Daredevils rode on an all-round effort to register their second successive win, beating Kings XI Punjab by 51 runs in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Saturday.

Chasing a mammoth 189, Punjab could never recover from the three early jolts for just 31 runs and were restricted to 137/9.

Returning from an eight-wicket drubbing at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Kings XI Punjab will face a daunting task when they take on a resurgent Delhi Daredevils (DD) in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 match at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Saturday.

Delhi's confidence got a major boost after the massive 97-run victory against Rising Pune Supergiants on Tuesday, thanks to an all-round show from the likes of centurion Sanju Samson, Chris Morris, skipper Zaheer Khan and leg-spinner Amit Mishra.

Nine stitches to repair a split-webbing on his left hand did not prevent Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli from taking the field on Wednesday night, and fans of the club will be happy that he did, as the irrepressible 27 year old smashed his fourth ton of what has been an exceptional season for the Delhi lad as he led his side to yet another win, one which takes them to the dizzying heights of second place in the Indian Premier League standings, ahead of three other teams also on 14 points courtesy of a better net run rate.

And than net run rate for the Royal Challengers could well be worth a point in itself as the side racked up a third straight win, this time by another ridiculous margin of 82 runs after the rain had reduced their contest with the Kings XI Punjab to 15 overs a side.

A fantastic innings of 96 from Man of the Match Hashim Amla went in vain as the Kings XI Punjab suffered another defeat, their 8th of the season, going down to the table topping Gujarat Lions by 7 wickets in a thrilling contest which went down to the final over and was settled by some late big hitting from veteran Indian left-hander Yuvraj Singh.

Yuvraj came out to bat with the Sunrisers Hyderabad at 97-2 in the 13th over after David Warner (52) had become the latest victim of the Sunrisers' hit-wicket curse, funnily enough falling in Yuvi's footsteps. He shared a handy 42 run partnership with young Deepak Hooda, who smashed 34 off 22 balls, before taking the Sunrisers home in the company of Ben Cutting, who also hit 2 sixes, chipping in with an unbeaten 18 off 11 balls.

The Mumbai Indians' floundering title defence was given a fresh lease of life today as the reigning IPL champions moved up to 6 points in the league standings courtesy of an en easy 25 run win over the Kings XI Punjab, who stay rank bottom having now lost 5 out of their 6 games so far this season.

Mohali was the setting for the Kings XI's latest debacle as they won the toss and opted to field, as have so many other teams thus far this season. Unfortunately for Punjab following a win formula requires a team capable of winning, and once again the bowling of the hosts let them down terribly as they conceded a rather massive 189-6 from their 20 overs.
