The Mumbai Indians produced yet another dominant performance, very much akin with their displays in the second half of this season, to power past the Chennai Super Kings by 25 runs into the Final of IPL Season 8.

Having won the toss, Mumbai decided to make first use of a slightly slow Wankhede Stadium pitch, and posted an excellent score of 187-6 on the board in their 20 overs. Their opening partnership of Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel continued to flourish, with the former making an outstanding 65 from just 51 deliveries, while the latter chipped in with 35 from 25 balls.

The Mumbai Indians completed a fairytale turnaround to their season by booking their place in the play-off game against the Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday with a thumping 9 wicket win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who appeared to still be reeling from their devastating late loss to the Royal Challengers Bangalore earlier this week.

The Sunrisers won the toss and elected to make first use of the pitch at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal. It proved to be a disastrous decision as they soon found themselves reeling at 7-2 with both openers Shikhar Dhawan (1) and David Warner (6) back in the pavilion. Dhawan was cleaned up by a quick yorker from Lasith Malinga while his Australian counterpart fell to a short delivery from Man of the Match Mitchell McClenaghan.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore booked a place in the play-offs of IPL Season 8, but missed out on a chance of making it to the top 2, and will hence go head to head against the Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator game next week. Their match against the Delhi Daredevils, which considering the gulf in quality between the two sides would have gone their way, was washed out midway through the contest after the Daredevils batted first and posted a challenging 187-5

Delhi's excellence with the bat was all thanks to their South African duo of Quinton de Kock and JP Duminy who struck contrasting half-centuries to help the Daredevils post a competitive total at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Sunday afternoon.
