The most hyped clash of the season didn’t fail to disappoint as fans were treated to a six-goal thriller at White Hart Lane. Andre Villas-Boas failed to exact revenge on his former employers as Chelsea fought back from being 2-1 down early in the 2nd half to clinch the game 4-2. A see-saw battle began with Gary Cahill opening the scoring in the 17th minute with a thumping volley.
Spurs were poor in the first half but they turned the game on its head with a blistering start to the 2nd period as William Gallas and Jermain Defoe scored in the space of six minutes after the restart. The Blues then regained their composure to hit-back with vengeance and it was all down to one man as Juan Mata took over the reins by scoring twice in three minutes after the 66th minute mark before setting up Daniel Sturridge for the clincher in added time.
