Inside a packed and sweltering Parc des Princes, the U.S. team battled past 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup host France and into the tournament semifinals with a 2-1 victory in front of 45,595 fans. Megan Rapinoe scored both goals for the Americans, one in each half, as the USA withstood a late France surge to keep their World Cup title hopes on track. The crowd was one of the most electric in Women's World Cup history with the American fans coming out in droves to help push the USA to victory.

The U.S. Women became the only nation to advance to the semifinals of all eight Word Cups that have been contested. Rapinoe's two goals gave her five during the World Cup, tying her for most in the tournament with Alex Morgan.

A 44th-minute goal from Julian Green boosted USA to a 1-1 draw against world No. 7 France on Saturday night in Lyon. The USA took the field with a starting lineup that averaged just 22 years old, but held strong in difficult conditions to earn a result against one of the world's top teams. The goal and the result mark firsts for the United States in its all-time series vs. France, which now stands at 0-3-1.

Heading into a summer break, the USA has compiled a 2-1-3 record since last October, including a 1-1 draw on the road against then third-ranked Portugal. Tonight's starting XI included seven players who have made their senior team debut in that span, while a total of 17 players earned their first caps in that time frame, making the result all the more impressive when considering that France's team had seven starters who had won a Champions League title, domestic league title, Cup title, or combination thereof this season in England, France, Spain or Italy.

The result leaves France and Sweden level on points at 13, but the Nordics take possession of top spot in Group A by virtue of goal difference.

Spain topped France 2-0 in a friendly match that saw a goal for the hosts disallowed and one confirmed based on video replay for the visitors. The value of the video replays was there for all to see, and one can only hope that football finally takes that leap of faith to bring it on par with other sports that is using video evidence to eradicate refereeing errors from the sport - a reality which more often than not alters the outcome of not just games, but careers.

The Spanish controlled the flow of the game throughout the first half on Tuesday, but posed no real threat to the French goal. France, after an anemic first half, mounted a surge at the start of the second and took a 1-0 lead on a header by Antoine Griezmann.

18-year-old sensation Kylian Mbappe made his international debut for France in a 3-1 victory over Luxembourg, while Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace to earn Portugal a 3-0 home win against Hungary in the 2018 World Cup European qualifiers.

Mbappe came off the bench for Dimitri Payet in the 78th minute on Saturday, one minute after Olivier Giroud scored his second goal of the match with a header from Benjamin Mendy's cross. The Arsenal striker opened the deadlock with a low shot for Les Bleus before the half-hour mark.

The U.S. Women's National Team fell to France 3-0 in its final game of the 2017 SheBelieves Cup at RFK Stadium. With the victory, France won the second edition of the tournament.

The game was played in rainy conditions which contributed to a fast-paced match that saw the teams combined for 25 shots, but it was France who was more clinical inside the penalty area and had the USA chasing the game after scoring twice in two minutes early on.
