Borussia Dortmund upset a wasteful Bayern Munich with two goals in the second half to book their berth for the German Cup final.

In Wednesday's match, Dortmund grabbed the lead first, but two goals by Bayern turned the tide. However, the German giants left a couple of promising chances unused, allowing Dortmund to secure a 3-2 win and a ticket for the German Cup final in Berlin.

Playing just a day after their team bus was attacked outside the team hotel, it was not easy for Borussia Dortmund's players, Monaco striker Radamel Falcao said.

"It was difficult to deal with everything that happened," Falcao, who captained Monaco, was quoted as saying by ESPNFC.

Bayern Munich cruised past Borussia Dortmund 4-1 thanks to a brace from Robert Lewandowski, while Hamburg shocked Hoffenheim 2-1 riding on a couple from Aaron Hunt in the Bundesliga on Satuday.

Bayern returned to winning ways after beating Dortmund 4-1 in a one-sided affair as two goals within 10 minutes on Saturday smoothed the way for the 21st victory of the season. Carlo Ancelotti's men made a bright start in front of 75,000 spectators at the sold-out Allianz Arena as French veteran winger Franck Ribery broke the deadlock with just four minutes into the game after a square pass from Philipp Lahm.

Mario Goetze will be sidelined for an unknown period of time, Borussia Dortmund confirmed through club's official homepage.

The midfielder is suffering from a metabolic disorder and will be sidelined indefinitely. Goetze has been struggling with muscular problems in recent months, which led to a physicians examination that diagnosed the disorder.

Benfica took an important step towards reaching the Champions League quarter-finals with a 1-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the first leg on Tuesday.

Kostas Mitroglou's 48th minute close-range finish following a corner gave the Portuguese capital football club a 1-0 lead in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash.

Schalke crushed second-division side Sandhausen 4-1 while Dortmund edged past Berlin 3-2 on penalties in the last 16 of the German Cup.

Schalke showed no mercy for Sandhausen as three first-half goals sealed the deal on Wednesday. The Royal Blues assumed control from the start while Sandhausen focused on a well-positioned defence.

Borussia Dortmund on Sunday announced that central defender Ömer Toprak will join the eight-time German football champions in the summer from Bundesliga rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

"Dortmund are prepared to meet the release clause in the player's contract and he will join the squad for the 2017/18 season. Toprak will sign a contract running until June 30, 2021," the 1997 Champions League winners said in a statement.
