Defending champions Argentina will miss the services of former World No.4 tennis star Juan Martin Del Potro for their next month's Davis Cup tie against Italy, Argentine captain Daniel Orsanic has revealed.

Orsanic said Diego Schwartzman, Horacio Zeballos, Guido Pella and Leonardo Mayer will play for Argentina in the February 3 to 5 tie at the capital's Sarmiento Park.

Argentina and Croatia head the seeds for the Draw for the World Group of the 2017 Davis Cup, which will take place at the BNP Paribas offices in London on Thursday 22 September at 13:00 local time (12:00 GMT).

The draws for 2017 Asia/Oceania Zone Groups I and II, and Europe/Africa Zone Groups I and II will also take place on Thursday. The ITF will confirm on Tuesday whether the draws can be held for Americas Zone Groups I and II.

Marc Lopez and David Ferrer won their respective reverse singles rubbers as Spain completed a comprehensive 5-0 win over India in their Davis Cup World Group Play-off tie at the R.K. Khanna Tennis Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday. Lopez defeated Davis Cup debutant Sumit Nagal 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, while Ferrer got the better of 21-year-old Chennai lad Ramkumar Ramanathan 6-2, 6-2.

Spain, who had taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match tie earlier by winning the opening day's two singles and the doubles rubber on Saturday, have returned to the World Group after a gap of two years.

Indian youngster Sumit Nagal produced a spirited performance on his Davis Cup debut before going down 3-6, 6-1, 3-6 to Marc Lopez of Spain in the first reverse singles of their World Group Play-off tie in New Delhi on Sunday.

Spain, who had taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match tie to book a spot in the World Group on Saturday, thus increased their lead to 4-0.

Rafael Nadal and Marc Lopez fought off a brave challenge from the Indian duo of Leander Paes and Saketh Myneni in the doubles rubber to hand Spain an unassailable 3-0 lead in their Davis Cup World Group Play-off tie in New Delhi on Saturday.

The Indians troubled the gold medal winners at last month's Rio Olympics throughout the hard-fought contest before going down 6-4, 6-7 (2), 4-6, 4-6 in three hours and 23 minutes in front of a raucous home crowd at the jampacked R.K. Khanna Tennis Stadium.

Feliciano Lopez and David Ferrer won their respective singles matches on the opening day of their Davis Cup World Group Play-off against India at the R.K. Khanna Tennis Stadium here on Friday, taking Spain to a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Feliciano defeated Ramkumar Ramanathan 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in the first match of the day in two hours and 15 minutes. Later, Ferrer outclassed Saketh Myneni 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 in an hour and 25 minutes in a rather lopsided encounter to hand the visitors a comfortable lead.

Indian youngster Ramkumar Ramanathan punched above his weight, putting up a brave fight before going down to Feliciano Lopez of Spain in four bitterly fought sets in the opening match of their Davis Cup World Group Play-off tie here on Friday. Spain thus took a 1-0 lead in the five-match tie.

Virtually written off even before the start, the hosts were handed a major boost before the match as Spain's star player Rafael Nadal pulled out due to a stomach bug with Feliciano taking his place.
