Laura Davies has reached a landmark age this year, but the number has only strengthened her resolve to claim another trophy. England’s greatest ever golfer turned 50 in October but the winner of more than 80 titles around the world believes that there are still more to come, especially if she can improve her pace putting this week in Dubai.

“I never look back. All I want to do is win my next tournament,” said Davies ahead of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, starting on Wednesday at Emirates Golf Club.

Its crunch time for Laura Davies with just two weeks to qualify for August’s Solheim Cup in Colorado. The 49-year-old, who has played in all 12 editions of the tournament since it started in 1990, is determined to qualify for the European Team.

Victory will be the only thing on her mind when she tees up in the ISPS HANDA Ladies European Masters at Buckinghamshire Golf Club from Friday.

It is the penultimate qualifying tournament before next week’s Ricoh Women’s British Open, when both the European and United States teams will be announced jointly on the evening of Sunday, 4 August.

Ashley Williams had a tremendous campaign for Swansea last season and the proverbial vultures have been circling around the Liberty Stadium for a while now, waiting to swoop in. Arsenal and Liverpool, both want to sign the Swansea and Wales captain. But the clubs and the general footballing fraternity all feel that the 10 million pounds price tag is too high for Williams, especially considering he is already nearly 29. One man who doesn’t agree with the rest is Swansea’s Ben Davies.

The Swansea defender feels that his teammate is very important to the Swansea setup and his £10 million going price is a bargain for any team wishing to have him.

Laura Davies, Trish Johnson and Carmen Alonso share the halfway lead at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open. The trio sit at four under par after 36 holes played in sunny conditions at National Golf Club in Belek, Antalya.

With overnight leader Carlota Ciganda a stroke back on three under, the leader board is packed with long hitters who have cleverly plotted their way around the tight-tree lined course.

Laura Davies is hoping that a potential win in the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco this week can help to boost her chances of Solheim Cup qualification. Davies is the only player in the history of The Solheim Cup to have participated in every event since 1990 and is desperate to make her 13th appearance in America this summer.

The Brit, currently ranked 159th in the world, is one of eight players at Golf de l’Océan in Agadir this week who can leap into the all-important top four on the European points list that will qualify for The 2013 Solheim Cup at Colorado Golf Club.
