Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton launched a verbal tirade at Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, comparing the 67 year old Frenchman to anĀ "an uncle who doesn't want to leave the party".

Sutton, who played for Chelsea before their rise to fame under Russian owner Roman Abramovich, did win the Premier League title once in his career at Blackburn Rovers, way back in 1995.

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has dismissed speculation about a possible move to Real Madrid, insisting that he will continue at his present club. Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move to acquire the services of the Belgium international should the ongoing talks with Manchester United custodian David De Gea fall through.

"I don't see myself at Real Madrid. I see myself at Chelsea, the club that six years ago saw me playing in Belgium and gave me the opportunity to sign for them," he was quoted as saying by the Guardian on Tuesday.

Spain chief coach Julen Lopetegui on Friday recalled key footballers to his squad for the forthcoming 2018 World Cup qualifying game at home against Israel and the friendly with France away.

Defenders Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique, who were both injured for the last internationals in November, return to the side, along with Andres Iniesta, Jordi Alba and Chelsea striker Diego Costa, who were also unable to play four months ago because of physical problems.

Chelsea defeated FA Cup holders Manchester United 1-0 to claim a spot in the semi-finals of the English competition.

United Manager Jose Mourinho won titles during his two stints with Chelsea, which both ended in firings, and he arrived at Stamford Bridge here on Monday for the quarter-final contest with what seemed like a sound plan. Unfortunately for him, his charges were overzealous in their efforts to neutralize Blues attacker Eden Hazard.

ACF Fiorentina have rubbished a media report that the Serie A football club has agreed to sell young playmaker Federico Bernardeschi to Inter Milan in the summer.

A report by Il Messaggero editor Massimo Caputi on Saturday claimed that "the deal will go through" and Inter will pay Fiorentina around 40 million euro (about $42 million) to rope in 23-year-old Bernardeschi, an academy product of the Florence-based Serie A outfit.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has asserted that he will persist with his exuberant celebrations when his team meets Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Monday. Conte was at the centre of a controversy last October when Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho accused him of trying to humiliate him with his over the top celebrations during Chelsea's 4-0 win.

"I think I've shown in my period at Chelsea, but not only here - always, in every team I've managed - that I live the game with great passion," the Chelsea manager was quoted as saying by the Guardian on Friday.

Bayern Munich chief coach Carlo Ancelotti reportedly wants to sign Real Madrid's Colombian forward James Rodriguez, who is struggling for playing time at the capital club.

James starred in the 2014 FIFA World Cup and soon joined the Madrid giants who were then coached by Italian Ancelotti. While James had a fruitful maiden season, he has since fallen down the pecking order under current Madrid chief coach Zinedine Zidane, including this season.
