Indian star Rohan Bopanna and his Uruguayan partner Pablo Cuevas survived a tough three-set battle to enter the third round of the men's doubles competition at the French Open tennis tournament here on Friday.

The ninth seeds were made to sweat by the unseeded duo of Dennis Istomin of Uzbekistan and Treat Huey of the Philippines before notching up a 5-7, 7-6, 6-4 victory following a gruelling encounter that stretched over two hours and 14 minutes.

Indian star Rohan Bopanna and his Uruguayan partner Pablo Cuevas defeated Romain Arneodo of Poland and Hugo Nys of France in straight sets to enter the men's doubles final of the Monte-Carlo Masters tennis tournament here on Saturday. The Indo-Uruguayan combination clinched a 6-4, 6-3 win in an hour-long encounter at the Monte Carlo Country Club.

This is the first final that Bopanna and Cuevas have entered since they teamed up earlier this year.

India's non-playing captain Mahesh Bhupathi on Tuesday selected four singles players in the squad for the Davis Cup tie against Uzbekistan, dropping veteran Leander Paes and his doubles partner Rohan Bopanna to the reserves.

Paes is on the cusp of becoming the tournament's most successful doubles player and the Uzbekistan match may well be the last chance for him to claim the all-time record on home turf after losing the doubles against New Zealand with Vishnu Vardhan. Paes is currently tied with Italy's Nicola Pietrangeli on 42 wins.

Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna and his Uruguayan partner Pablo Cuevas lost 6-2, 3-6, 7-10 to Serbians Novak Djokovic and Viktor Troicki in the opening round of the ATP Indian Wells Masters on Saturday.

The Indo-Uruguayan pair, who were the favourites, started on a positive note by winning the first set comfortably. They outplayed the Serbian pair in every department to take a crucial lead. The second set saw a brilliant fightback from the Serbians, leading to the decisive tie-breaker.

India's Rohan Bopanna and his Polish partner Marcin Matkowski produced a stiff fight before going down in the men's doubles final of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Saturday.

The unseeded Indo-Polish pair started strongly before going down 6-4, 3-6, [3-10] to the fourth seeded Romanian-Dutch pair of Horia Tecau and Jean-Julien Rojer.

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig came from behind to beat Indo-Canadian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Gabriela Dabrowski to reach the mixed doubles semi-finals of the Australian Open here on Wednesday.

The second seeded Indo-Croatian duo held their nerves to save two match points in their 6-4, 3-6, [12-10] win against the unseeded pair of Bopanna and Dabrowski, who wasted as many as four match point chances, in a match that lasted an hour and seven minutes on Show Court 3.

Sania Mirza set up a showdown with Rohan Bopanna in the Australian Open Mixed Doubles quarter-finals after she and Ivan Dodig defeated Alexander Peya and Zheng Saisai 2-6, 6-3, 10-6 on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, Rohan Bopanna and Canada's Gabriela Dabrowski mounted a great fight back to win against Poland's Lukasz Kubot and Taiwan's Chan Yung-jan to win 6-4, 5-7, 10-3.

The quarter-final pits the two Indians who represented the country in mixed doubles at the 2016 Olympics against each other. At the Rio Games, Sania-Bopanna lost the bronze medal play-off tie.
