Arsenal and Liverpool, arguably the favourites to win the FA Cup this year, have been drawn separately for the FA Cup semi-finals this year. The draw, which was held right after the Gunners’ away triumph over Manchester United, saw them being drawn against the winner of the Bradford City-Reading tie, with the Reds getting a fixture against Aston Villa, provided they are able to edge past Blackburn Rovers in the replay.

With the Cup having reached a severely competitive stage now, the Gunners may have to toil hard to get past the League One side (provided they qualify for the next round) who defeated Chelsea and Sunderland earlier in the competition. Bradford also knocked Arsenal out of the Capital One Cup two years ago.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that defender Martin Skrtel is fine and that he could have played on in the game during his side’s FA Cup quarter final clash against Blackburn Rovers. The boss said that he was substituted only because the side were adhering to the advice of the medical team and the experts.

The Northern Irishman was quoted telling reporters: "Martin Skrtel is fine. He could have played on but you have to listen to the medical team and the experts and he is fine in the changing room. He fell heavily so there was a feeling he could have been knocked out or concussed but I'll leave that to the medical experts."

The Northern Irishman was quoted telling reporters after the game: "We kept a clean sheet and still have big confidence. We just lacked that final ball. We don't play until next Monday and that gives us a chance to prepare well. They put so much into the game but couldn't find the breakthrough."

Blackburn Rovers put in a great performance to restrict Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Anfield in their FA Cup quarter final tie.

The match started with both the sides in full spirits. Liverpool, however, got a shock very early in the 2nd minute of play itself when Martin Skrtel landed awkwardly after being knocked out, following his heading tussle with Rudy Gestede. He was attended to by the Reds medical staff for a long while before being finally substituted by Kolo Toure.

Liverpool star Alberto Moreno has said that he wishes to win the FA Cup with the Reds this season, so as to enable Steven Gerrard to leave the club with the ‘perfect present’ after this season.

The Spaniard was quoted in The Daily Telegraph, saying: "It will be the perfect present for him, wouldn't it? To be able to leave the club with a trophy under his belt, that would be fantastic for Steven."

Blackburn skipper Scott Dann proved to be 'Johnny on the Spot' as he capitalized on yet another goalkeeping error from a Manchester City custodian to earn his Rovers side an FA Cup third round replay against the Premier League heavyweights. City enjoyed the better of a competitive first half, and went into the break with a last gasp lead courtesy of Alvaro Negredo, however, Blackburn came out after the break with renewed purpose and were good value for their draw, forcing the mega rich side into a replay later this month. It was an outcome that City Manager Manuel Pellegrini in particular would have been keen to avoid despite his massive squad depth, considering that City also have some League Cup semi-finals to attend to this month.

Last year’s losing finalists Manchester City made the trip to giant killers Blackburn Rovers in the first FA Cup tie of round three of this year’s competition. The Rovers stunned Arsenal in last season’s competition and were hoping to achieve a similar result against arguably the side to beat in England this year, Manchester City.
