Wayne Rooney might have to start reconsidering his summer-move options, after it was reported that Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich are not even remotely interested in the 27 year old England striker.

The Express quoted the Sporting Director of Bayern, Matthias Sammer, saying: "I don't know what Rooney would bring to the Bundesliga. I can't answer that.

"I can answer that we have great respect for Wayne Rooney, but there has been no contact with him. He's not on the agenda. No, no. Absolutely not," the 45 year old added.

While announcing his decision to hang up his coaching boots, Sir Alex told the media how he was planning to leave Manchester United in the finest shape possible. Though the statement appeared cryptic at the time, he might have, in all probability, been talking about his former player, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Daily Mail reported that David Gill, the outgoing chief executive at the club, flew to Madrid and met Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo's agent. Following this revelation, it has been reported that Manchester United are confident in securing the Portuguese’s return to Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson took the whole football world by shock by announcing his retirement a couple of hours ago. According to reports in the Daily Express, Bayern Munich's directors reportedly met on Monday and have placed a deadline of 15th May to sign striker Robert Lewandowski from rivals Borussia Dortmund. Should that date go by, Manchester United could be the frontrunners to sign the Polish international.

Bayern were initially believed to be leading the race to sign the forward, however, after the meeting on Monday, it looks highly unlikely that the club can confirm Lewandowski's capture before the UEFA Champions League Final.

The biggest news of the day is the thrashing of Barcelona. The Catalans were defeated 3-0 by Bayern Munich, at the Nou Camp last night, the Germans progressing to the final of the Champions League with an aggregate score of 7-0, the biggest semi-final thumping since 1960, when Eintracht Frankfurt beat Rangers 12-4, on aggregate. Pundits say that this might signal the end of Spanish dominance in Football. The consequences are yet to be seen, but as of now Bayern are definitely the most powerful team in Europe. The stakes are high, and the Germans seem to control every aspect of football – even the transfer market.

Having already signed Mario Gotze from rivals Borussia Dortmund, and en route to luring Robert Lewandowski to Munich, Bayern have also entered the race to sign Angelo Ogbonna, the Torino defender. With Manchester United and Liverpool already hot on his trail, the 24 year old Italian of Nigerian descent seems certain to leave Italy this summer.

Sir Alex Ferguson may have been confident of signing Robert Lewandowski, but Bayern Munich might just grab the Pole from right under the nose of the English Champions. Just about a week after triggering a release clause in the contract of Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Gotze, the Bavarian Giants are now on the verge of acquiring the signature of Lewandowski, who according to reports, has his heart set on leaving for Munich.

Lewandowski’s agent Maik Barthel broke loads of United hearts last week when he was quoted saying – “I can tell you only one thing – Robert is interested in the future coming to the Premier League. The Premier League is very interesting for Robert. How long is the future, I cannot say to you. I think this summer is not the future."

The era of Spanish dominance is well and truly in the past after Bayern Munich brushed aside Barcelona 3-0 in the 2nd leg of their semi-final to clinch the tie 7-0 on aggregate and setup the first all-German Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on May 25th at Wembley. Barcelona were always up against it after their 1st leg mauling and with Lionel Messi being restricted to the bench through injury their chances reduced further.

Any hopes of Bayern being slack were washed away three minutes into the 2nd half when Arjen Robben got the crucial away goal after cutting in from the right. Gerard Pique’s own goal on 72 minutes made it 2-0 to the Germans, who added a 3rd four minutes later through Thomas Muller. The stage is set for the Germans to shine on the continent’s biggest stage and on a personal note, Bayern have a glorious chance to make up for the disappointments of 2010 and 2012.
