21 year old Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom has seen virtually no playing time this season, failing to break into the Arsenal first team and it comes as little surprise that with the Gunners' forward line largely fit and firing, Manager Arsene Wenger could be looking to send the youngster out on loan for the second half of the season.

The Birmingham Mail reports this morning that Aston Villa are among a host of Championship clubs hoping to take the young striker on loan, with Manager Steve Bruce unsurprisingly the favourite to sign him considering Akpom spent last season on loan with him at Hull City.

Italian football club Fiorentina has announced the signing of Colombian midfielder Carlos Sanchez on loan from English side Aston Villa. Fiorentina announced the temporary acquisition of the 30-year-old with a statement on its website on Tuesday night.

Sanchez began his career in Uruguay with Danubio and River Plate Montevideo before moving to Ligue 1 in 2007, joining France's Valenciennes.

After playing with Spanish club Elche from 2013 to 2014, he played at Aston Villa for the last two seasons, before his loan to Fiorentina.

Premier League side Everton has signed Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gueye from recently relegated Aston Villa for £7.1 million on a four-year contract.

26 year old Gueye is Manager Ronald Koeman's second signing since the Dutchman arrived from Southampton to replace the sacked Roberto Martinez in June. Gueye moved to Villa from French club Lille last year and made 38 appearances in all competitions as Villa were relegated from the Premier League.

A first ever Premier League hat-trick for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, coupled with a 5-1 demolition of Tottenham by 10-man Newcastle United meant that Arsenal continue their tradition of finishing above Spurs in each and every season under Manager Arsene Wenger as the Gunners edged out their North London rivals in the race for second place in the Premier League standings 71 points to 70.

Arsenal came into their game with relegated Aston Villa knowing that a point would be good enough to guarantee them third place, but still had aspirations of finishing second, provided Newcastle United did the Gunners a favour at St. James' Park. Both outcomes went the Gunners' way as Arsenal beat Aston Villa 4-0 while Spurs were humiliated 5-1 by another relegated side in Newcastle.

Tottenham Hotspur moved within 2 points of Premier League leaders Leicester City, and increased the gap between themselves and local neighbours Arsenal to 6, courtesy of a 2-0 win away to bottom of the table Aston Villa on Sunday night.

A brace from the irrepressible Harry Kane, and a couple of assists too for the undoubted young player of the season Dele Alli earned Spurs a comfortable win in a match they dominated until perhaps the last 10 minutes.

Chelsea's Interim Manager Guus Hiddink has lashed out at Aston Villa Manager Remi Garde for raising speculation regarding the future of French striker Loic Remy in the press, without even making initial contact with the Blues. Garde declared in a press conference yesterday that he was interested in taking the 28 year old former Lyon man on loan for the rest of season.

Hiddink though feels that Garde is out of turn in discussing the future of a player who is on Chelsea's rolls, even before speaking with the Blues about Remy's availability.

Chelsea are widely expected to refurbish their squad in the January transfer window with Guus Hiddink expected to be given a free hand to strengthen the teams in areas he deems necessary, and that could result in a number of fringe players also leaving Stamford Bridge.

One player whose time at the club certainly seems up is 28 year old French international striker Loic Remy, who is danger of missing out on making the French squad for the European Championships due to the paucity of playing time at Chelsea.
