Legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar found himself at the centre of a controversy on Tuesday over problems faced by a businessman friend of his regarding a luxurious holiday resort in Mussoorie.

The cricketer and Rajya Sabha member had confirmed on Tuesday that he had attended a meeting with Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in which he had asked for help in sorting out problems faced by businessman Sanjay Narang over a security dispute over the land with a neighbouring Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) establishment.

Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, who was part of the BCCI's Cricket Advisory panel that selected Anil Kumble as head coach, has reckoned that the legendary leg-spinner will help the young Indian side to fight out during crunch situations.

Legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday joined Spartan International Group as an investor and member advisory board.

The former India batsman has joined as an investor and will serve on the advisory Board alongside West Indies' hard-hitting batsman Chris Gayle, Kunal Sharma, managing director and founder of Spartan Sports and Ravi Thakran.

Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, who was quite ruthless to bowlers during his playing days, showed his compassionate side by funding the reconstruction of a rural school in West Bengal's West Midnapore district.

Tendulkar responded to the request of the headmaster, who said he was "desperate" to rebuild the building, which was on the verge of "collapse".

The President of the BCCI, Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya, has nominated Mr. Sachin Tendulkar, Mr. Sourav Ganguly and Mr VVS Laxman as esteemed members of the Cricket Advisory Committee of the BCCI, with immediate effect.

These legendary cricketers have accepted the invitation to be part of this Committee, which will advise the BCCI on various progressive steps which are needed to be taken, that will enable Indian Cricket to be better prepared for the challenges of the future.
