FC Pune City resurrected their chances in the Hero Indian Super League with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Atletico de Kolkata at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium, Balewadi-Pune, on Sunday.

Goals from Eduardo Ferreira (41st minute) and Anibal Rodriguez (penalty, 56th minute) were enough for Pune City to score their first home win of the season and jump two places to sixth on the table. Iain Hume had kept Atletico de Kolkata in the game after converting a penalty in the 69th minute but Pune held on for an important win.

FC Goa's win against FC Pune City has restored confidence among the struggling team members who are looking to overturn their wretched form to revive hopes of Indian Super League (ISL) football semi-finals qualification.

The 1-0 away win on November 3, only second of their campaign, helped Goa leave their bottom of the standings position to be placed seventh among eight teams with seven points from eight matches. Mumbai City FC are on top with 15 points from nine matches.

FC Pune City head coach Antonio Habas will face his former employers Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) for the first time when they host the former champions in an Indian Super League (ISL) football encounter on Sunday.

Habas led ATK to the title in the first ISL edition following it up with a semi-final finish last year. The Spaniard then was roped in by Pune for the third season albeit without any success so far as they languish at the bottom of the table, winning just one game in seven matches.

Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) are not unduly worried at the prospect of bracing up against former coach Antonio Habas in their Indian Super League (ISL) football match against FC Pune City, goalkeeper Debjit Mazumdar said on Friday.

Debjit said the team hasn't spoken about Habas as they gear up to take on their former coach's new team Pune away on Sunday.

FC Goa edged past hosts FC Pune City 1-0 in an Indian Super League (ISL) football match on Thursday. Rafael Luiz netted the all-important goal from a free-kick in the 32nd minute at the Balewadi stadium in Pune. The win meant Goa went up to the seventh place, on seven points from eight games, pushing Pune to the bottom of the eight team tournament with six points from seven games.

Pune are now winless in five straight matches while it was Goa's only second victory of the competition.

Mumbai City FC edged hosts FC Pune City 1-0 to began their Indian Super League (ISL) football tournament on a promising note on Monday. Argentine Matias Defederico scored the match-clincher in the 69th minute at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex.

Pune were without their new coach, the suspended Antonio Habas, who will sit out Pune's first four matches after being sanctioned for indecent behaviour last year, when he was at the helm of Atletico de Kolkata.

FC Pune City strengthened their forward line adding forward Jesus Tato for the 2016 edition of the league. The Spanish footballer will make his debut in the Indian Super League with this move to the Pune club.

With this addition to the club’s attacking line, CEO Gaurav Modwel felt the team’s line up now looks a formidable one. “Tato adds versatility to our frontline. He can play forward as well as on wings as per the team’s requirements. His experience of playing in the Spanish leagues means his skill sets are up there and he will be an asset for FC Pune City.”
