Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo won the FIFA Best Male Player Award over his great rival Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann for a stellar 2015-16 season, at a glittering ceremony here.

Ronaldo also won the Ballon d'Or, given by France Football magazine, in December, with both honours recognition for success in the Champions League with Real and Euro 2016 with Portugal.

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo said on Monday that he hopes to carry on playing football for another 10 years when he will be 41 years old. The Portugal captain made his comments at the press conference held after he extended his current contract with Real Madrid until the summer of 2021, when he will be 36 years old.

After thanking the club and the fans, Ronaldo said it was a "very important" day for him.

Cristiano Ronaldo led Portugal to a 6-0 demolition of Andorra in the second round of European football qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup. Ronaldo, whose last international appearance was in Portugal's victory over France in the 2016 Euro Cup final, scored twice in the first three minutes on Friday.

The Real Madrid superstar added a brace in the second half and Joao Cancelo and Andre Silva contributed a goal each to complete the rout.

Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has said his club Real Madrid were better than their rivals Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final which they clinched in a penalty shoot-out though Atletico "also deserved to win".

In an interview published by the UEFA website on Wednesday, Ronaldo said the final "was an amazing experience. Once again (as in 2014) against Atletico Madrid, who are an excellent side and also deserved to win the Champions League ... but Real Madrid were better".

Spanish football club Atletico Madrid's coach Diego Simeone has said top club coaches like Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho among others should be allowed to manage their nations alongside their day jobs.

Simeone has long been linked with Argentina national team's job but Edgardo Bauza was recently named as the coach.

Two second-half goals helped Portugal stun Argentina 2-0 in the Olympic football tournament opener at the Olympic Stadium in Rio on Thursday afternoon.

Argentina dominated the first half, albeit without finding the net. But it were Rui Jorge's squad who really took off in the second half. Paciencia was true to his surname ("Patience"), biding his time until the 66th minute, when he took a pass from the left by Bruno Fernandes and neatly left-footed it into the corner of the net.
