Brazil and Argentina will meet in an international football friendly in Australia on June 9, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has said.

The match will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which has the capacity to seat more than 1,00,000 spectators, reports Xinhua news agency.

Argentina football coach Edgardo Bauza, presently touring Europe, has praised the professional level his team's talisman Lionel Messi has reached in recent months.

After attending a training session of Atletico Madrid on Thursday, Bauza said Messi seems to be doing well as he led his club FC Barcelona to reach the Cop del Rey final, and emphasised the player's steady development over the last two months, reports Efe.

Canada’s Men’s Rugby Team lost its 2017 Americas Rugby Championship opener 20-6 to Argentina XV Saturday evening at Westhills Stadium. Gordon McRorie kicked two penalties for Canada while Santiago Medrano and Segundo Tuclet had tries for the visitors.

"They looked a little more organised than us," Canada's head coach Mark Anscombe said. "It was anyone's game at half time but I thought we played a poor second half and they started playing a bit more and put us under pressure."

Senior men’s head coach Mark Anscombe has named his starting XV for Saturday’s 2017 Americas Rugby Championship opener against Argentina.

The team will be captained by Gordon McRorie and features 12 players with previous test cap experience. However, Saturday’s game is not a sanctioned test match. Kickoff is 8pm ET/5pm PT and can be seen LIVE on TSN GO.

The Italian Tennis Federation named Fabio Fognini, Andreas Seppi, Simone Bolelli and Paolo Lorenzi as the four members of the team to play defending champions Argentina in the first round of the 2017 Davis Cup next month, .

Bolelli, 31 and world no. 459, is the main addition for the team after being out in the last part of the 2016 season because of an injury to his left knee.

Defending champions Argentina will miss the services of former World No.4 tennis star Juan Martin Del Potro for their next month's Davis Cup tie against Italy, Argentine captain Daniel Orsanic has revealed.

Orsanic said Diego Schwartzman, Horacio Zeballos, Guido Pella and Leonardo Mayer will play for Argentina in the February 3 to 5 tie at the capital's Sarmiento Park.

With only 12 “A” matches played since the final ranking of 2016, there are few big changes in the January edition of the FIFA World Ranking. The top 34 positions of the ranking table remain unchanged with Argentina, Brazil and Germany still holding first, second and third place respectively.

Despite the overall stability of the January table, two new teams have broken into the top 50. Saudi Arabia (48th, up 6) and Nigeria (50th, up 1) move up at the expense of Albania (51st, down 2) and Burkina Faso (53rd, down 3).
