Former Manchester United and Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao earned Monaco a 2-1 comeback against relegation-threatened Dijon to sit three points clear atop the Ligue 1 football championship, while Mario Balotelli-less Nice were still involved in the three-team title race after beating Nancy 3-1 at home.

Dijon, second from the bottom, on Saturday shocked the Ligue 1 leaders late in the first half, as their captain Cedric Varrault followed in to score the rebound after Julio Tavares' header was denied by Monaco goalkeeper Danijel Subasic.

Manchester United' chief coach Jose Mourinho has confirmed that midfielder Juan Mata will not play for the rest of the football season following a groin surgery.

Mata, 28, underwent surgery last month but the club hoped he could return to the field before the end of the English Premier League on May 21. However, Mourinho on Friday revealed in the press conference prior to Sunday's duel with Chelsea that the Spanish international will not be available "until the end of May".

In addition, Mourinho reported that goalkeeper David De Gea is available to face Chelsea at the Old Trafford stadium here, while defenders Chris Smalling and Phil Jones will not return "until mid-May".


Manchester United, who drew 1-1 away at Anderlecht, and Ajax, 2-0 winners at home over Schalke 04, emerged the strongest in the Europa League quarterfinal first leg.

The outlook is more complicated for Celta Vigo who on Thursday won but conceded two away goals to Genk, while Olympique Lyon prevailed 2-1 against Besiktas in a match that started 50 minutes late due to clashes between home-team supporters and travelling Turkish fans.

Hinting at Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann, Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos said the record European football champions' "doors are always open" for the best in the business.

There has been talk of the France star moving to Real with his adviser claiming last week that the Madrid heavyweights - along with Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona -- had asked about the 26-year-old's availability.

Manchester United claimed a 3-0 away victory against 10-man Sunderland in Premier League on Sunday, to continue their quest for a place among the top four.

Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic opened the scoring for the visitors after 30 minutes. Sunderland's Swedish midfielder Sebastian Larsson was sent off just 13 minutes later for a challenge on Manchester United's Ander Herrera and it gave United a big advantage.

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic feels the team is not good enough to be at the top of the English Premier League (EPL) football championship. Manchester United, unbeaten for 20 matches, are currently at the sixth place in the EPL standings with 54 points from 29 games.

They are hoping to qualify for the 2017-18 Champions League by winning the current season's Europa League, which currently is at the quarter-finals stage.

After initially frowning at the prospect of striker Marcus Rashford being selected by England for this summer's European Under-21 football championship, Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho has said he has "no legal right" to block the teenager's participation.

England head coach Gareth Southgate has asked under-21 chief coach Aidy Boothroyd to select Rashford, 19, for the European meet in Poland in June, despite the player being a regular in the senior international squad.
