The recent years in competitive football have seen the emergence of a number of cash rich clubs. This has especially prompted the other “lesser” sides to resort to swapping players, to make up for the cash deficit and also ensure contentment for all parties concerned. According to The Daily Mail, the latest club to rely upon such desperate means for cost cutting is Chelsea. The West London side are hoping to reduce their expenses by offering the misfiring-at-times Fernando Torres (plus a fair bit of cash) to Napoli for their Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani.
Chelsea’s proposal could also be fuelled by an interest to remove Manchester City from the race to bag Cavani's signature. The Manchester side are ready to offer Edin Dzeko to facilitate a move for Cavani. However, with Rafael Benitez having signed up as the Serie A side’s manager, an offer for Torres might top any other, with both the Spaniards being at ease working with each other.

Qatar Investment Authority continue to set the European football stage on fire by throwing millions of dollars into the beautiful game. The Doha-based owners of Paris Saint-Germain have made an incredible offer for Wayne Rooney, which even the humblest and noblest of players just would not turn their back to, so it is probably safe to say Au Revoir Monsieur Rooney.
According to The Daily Express, the French side have the following in store for the Manchester United forward – a 30 million pound offer, coupled with a weekly wage of 300,000 pounds post tax for the next four years. And if that wasn’t enough, the Ligue 1 Champions are also willing to let Rooney define any other terms he wants related to image rights, endorsements, etc. This in turn could spell uneasiness for clubs like Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal, all of whom have been looking to land in the forward.

Manchester United have started charting out other midfield options after they learnt about the massive release clause in Fabregas’ contract, reports the Daily Express. David Moyes had registered a strong interest in the Catalan midfielder earlier and was set to add the former North London rival to his midfield. However, now he has started to look at other options following the revelation about Fabregas’ 170 million pound release clause.
Fabregas has had a frustrating season at the Camp Nou where the midfielder just cannot seem to break the midfield triumvirate of Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets. The Spaniard, who was brought to the side following a 35 million pound transfer from Arsenal, had a good start to his career at Barcelona winning a trophy on his first appearance for the team in the Supercopa de Espana against Real Madrid. The midfielder then had a productive run in the centre of the park for some time but slowly his stars diminished and his love affair with the bench started. However, not once has Fabregas spoken of leaving his boyhood club and Xavi’s predetermined successor is all set to work hard to leave his mark on the Catalans.

Former Gunner and current Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas could be on his way back to England albeit to a different town this time, as the red half of Manchester has come calling and this deal could culminate as early as next week due to incoming manager David Moyes having a rather strong liking to the player.
Two years ago in a transfer saga that lasted two full seasons, Fabregas was reunited with his Spanish teammates at Barcelona after agreeing to leave Arsenal for £35 million. Last summer Chelsea stocked up on attacking midfielders left, right and centre, buying Eden Hazard, Oscar, Victor Moses and Marco Marin adding on to the exceptional players that are Juan Mata and Frank Lampard. Now they set out to solidify the holding midfield position during the coming transfer season. The Daily Express reports that Italian international Claudio Marchisio is the latest midfielder to draw the attention of the Blues.
With Jose Mourinho returning to Chelsea this summer, Roman Abramovich is rolling out the ‘green’ carpet, giving ‘The Special One’ everything his heart desires, and apparently the 50 year old Portuguese wants the exceptional talents of Juventus midfielder Marchisio to grace Stamford Bridge. Marchisio has been unbelievable for the Italian Champions, holding the team together in the middle of the park allowing the likes of Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo to express themselves further up the pitch, something Mourinho no doubt hopes he can replicate at Chelsea.
